A few weeks ago, I checked an item off my bucket list and went to a cranberry marsh! I was invited by the Carmex team to visit their home state of Wisconsin to learn all about their newest product, Carmex SuperCran™ Lip Butter. Using a new natural formula, SuperCran features a burst of locally sourced cranberries, and I was able to get a behind the scenes peek to that process and tour their home state capitol by the leaders of Carmex themselves. I’ve traveled solo before by train or bus, but this was actually was my first time flying solo. How crazy is that, haha. Luckily the flight went super smoothly and I checked into my hotel, The Graduate, in Madison with no issues. The first thing on the agenda was a trip to the cranberry marshes! We had the chance to put on waders and step into the water where the cranberries are harvested. 60% of the country’s cranberries are harvested in Wisconsin so it was exciting to see the process direct from the source. Contrary to popular belief, cranberries don’t grow in water. When it is time to harvest, the marshes where the cranberries grow are flooded so the berries are easier to collect. The berries contain little air chambers so they float at the top of the water! After that process, Carmex uses cold–pressed cranberry seed oil to create SuperCran Lip Butter. Each stick and is crafted with the seeds of over 300 cranberries within each stick of SuperCran. Besides just being rich in antioxidants, SuperCran is made with 100% natural ingredients and is filled with nourishing vitamins and Omega’s 3/6/9. Not to mention that it is clinically proven to protect and moisturize your lips after just one use. So glad that my friend Minna was on this trip with me! We had too much fun throwing cranberries around. We ended the day with a cranberry-inspired dinner at Harvest, all made with locally-grown, sustainable ingredients. The restaurant had the best cheese plate I’ve ever eaten, which included little cranberry preserves. The dinner also gave us a chance to hear Paul Woelbing, the president of Carmex talk about the history of the company. Despite the vast distribution of Carmex products, the company is still family owned to this day! Carmex was started by his grandfather in 1937 and Paul is the third generation of the Woelbing family to oversee Carmex. I’m passionate about entrepreneurship so I love hearing stuff like this. Since Carmex is a family owned brand with deep roots in their home state, I loved that they sourced the cranberries in SuperCran Lip Butter locally, as well. It’s the little things that make a big difference. The next morning, we started the day off with a yoga class. All the rest of the ladies on this trip were so good. I’m still pretty new to yoga but I’m working on it! Hoping to be able to do the crow pose by the end of the year. Afterwards, we ended the trip at Revel for some arts & crafts fun. I *love* DIY projects so this was totally up my alley. I ended up decorating a straw basket with a pom pom and some tassels and made an easy wall art hanging. Extremely grateful for these two days in Wisconsin with the Carmex team and my SuperCran ladies! One of my favorite trips I’ve taken so far.
