It's always a delight to receive orders for my handmade products especially at Christmas. These curvy keepsake boxes were made for one (large!) family so I thought I would make several designs so that people could "ohh" and "ahh" over what everyone else received. Making multiple designs also keeps the fun in the craft and doesn't let it get to be a tedious production line. The design possibilities are endless but keep in mind when making them in bulk that you want to keep things interesting for you and not overly labour intensive. These are full size curvy keepsake boxes (heartbreakingly now retired), but you could easily adapt them to fit the mini curvy keepsake dies. The first design is simple but effective and uses designer series paper for the interior panels. I made 5 in one paper and 5 in another. The second design was the most time consuming but the ones I enjoyed making the most because I got to sit and colour with Blends for a couple of hours. Are't the little Christmas gnomes from Gnome for the Holidays just the cutest? On the back I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set, Holly Jolly Everything. For the third design I pulled out the heat tool and embossing powder to add some festive reindeer, from the Festive Post stamp set, onto the Shaded Spruce cardstock. Let's say that today I'm getting in early for Christmas, rather than being late from last year ;-). Either way, I hope you enjoy seeing some Christmassy curvy keepsake characters. These are all based on cute boxes I've seen & pinned on Pinterest. Rudolf the Reindeer Rudolf is Santas favourite reindeer pal. He's based on this cute one by Darla. I added a fun tag from the Merry Everything stamp set & co-ordinating punch. You can see what I did on my handy dandy cheat sheet. and here's the combined image for you to pin or save. Santa's tummy & hat tag I saw a bajillion of these last year so I have no idea who thought of the idea in the first place, but the choice of pieces is based on what I thought looked right. The fab Santa hat was a brilliant idea from my fellow JAI team member & truly lovely lady, Nikki. Here's a closer pic of the tag. The hat is made with the pennant punch - sadly another retiring punch so get it now if you love making pennants... or Santa hats & it's 50% off too! To make it you'll need to punch 1 regular pennant in red & 1 scallop pennant in white. You place the white piece back into the punch - upside down so you can line up & cut the second scallop. The bobble top is a half inch circle. You can see a couple of options for making Santa's belly in my cheat sheet below. I have teamed up with 11 Incredible Demonstrators from around the globe to bring you a Tutorial Bundle, once a month for a 6 month period (August 2016 - January 2017). All tutorials are offered in both Metric and Imperial measurements so that everyone around the globe are able to recreate the projects with ease. Poppy Favour Tutorial Cut Two Ovals of differing sizes and stamp using Kinda Eclectic sunburst image in the same Real Red as the cardstock. Curl the edges using a bone folder (I have kept them flat here for the purpose of the photo). Snip into the centre where they over lap and interlock. Die cut the leaf from the Leaflets Framelits in Garden Green. Mount the poppy on a disc of Basic Black and sandwich your treat between that and another disc. Add the leaf and then the poppy head, before finishing it off with a smaller circle of Black Cardstock to the centre, which I've adhered using a single Dimensional foam pad. Notecard and Tag Gift Box for 3"x3" cards Click on the above photo to see the project post in it's entirety. Below are the instructions for making the box and insert divider. The enclosed Notecards are a simple 3" x 3" square card and the coordinating Envelopes were made using the Envelope Punch Board and Designer Series Paper. The tags are cut to 2" wide, finished using the Tag Topper Punch and cut to your chosen length to fit the box. Stamp up the cards to coordinate with your chosen DSP. Snip into one score line at each corner and use a strong adhesive to assemble. I have shown here with Sticky Strip so that you are able to see it clearly. It is a good idea to adhere the divider in place. This helps to give the box a little more strength to the base. If you are stamping on the Box Lid, you will want to do this before assembling. Santa's Face Embellishment Tutorial I have received some lovely comments and emails asking for instructions on how to make the Punch Art Santa that I showed on my Curvy Keepsake Gift Boxes of late, so without further ado ….. get your punches ready and spread a little cheer! You will need the following punches and dies: 2 3/8" Scallop Circle - White 1 3/4" Scallop Circle - White Large Oval - Blushing Bride Large circle from Owl Builder Punch - Blushing Bride 2 Medium Circles from Owl Builder Punch - Black Mustache Framelit - White Petite Pennants Builder - Real Red Petite Pennants Builder - Silver Glimmer (part punch) 1/2" Circle - Silver Glimmer 1. Punch out one each of the above (unless otherwise stated) 2. Assemble as shown. Taking the Pennant Parade part punch of glimmer paper and holding with a post it note, re-insert into the punch in the opposite direction to add a scalloped edge to the opposite side of the scalloped bottom edge. 3. Add the Mustache to the face using Dimensionals and add the scalloped punched glimmer strip to the bottom of the hat. 4. Attach the hat to the face and decide where you wish to use your cheerful Santa. Merry Christmas Mikaela x Curvy Keepsake Pumpkin Box Tutorial Place an online order with me during the month of October 2014, of £20 or more, and you will receive a kit to make two of these cute boxes. Look out for the Hostess Code to apply to your order at the beginning of October (Note that the Designer Series Paper may differ to that shown here). Cut two each of the Cardstock sides and two of the Polka Dot Designer Series Paper sides. Please note that this particular DSP has been retired, but the Designer Series paper Stacks would offer a similar polka dot. Die cut as shown here. Fold on the score lines and lay out as shown here. Adhere the cardstock base together, then trim off the excess DSP along the scoreline at the base of the sides. Add adhesive to the outside edge of the little side tab of the card stock base and marry up the base of the DSP side. Repeat on both sides. The base of your box will now look like this. Very gently, using the full length of a Bone Folder, curl each box side inwards on itself, in the direction of it being assembled. The Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits, comes complete with 3 possible tags. I've used the oval here and stamped using a Hostess Set called, Good Greetings. The leaf has been die cut using the Autumn Accents Die. Take a thin strip of matching card stock and wrap it tightly around a thin round pen or similar. Layer the tag and leaf, attach the card stock curl with a Glue Dot and tie to the box using Linen Thread. Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits Dies £29.95 Autumn Accents Bigz Die £18.95 Pumpkin Pie A4 Card Stock £6.25 Old Olive A4 Card Stock £6.25 Crumb Cake A4 Card Stock £6.25 Linen Thread £3.95 Flower Shop Stamp Set Tip Should you purchase the gorgeous Flower Shop Stamp Set and Punch Bundle, then you will find this tip for setting up the stamps, very useful. Thankfully, I discovered this tip from one of my fellow Demonstrators in America, before setting my kit up. There is only one way that the punch will fit neatly around the stamped image, with an even edge all the way round, so you need to find this to start with … and here is how. Firstly you want to take a piece of cardstock and pushing the strip right down into the punch, punch out the image. Turn the piece of cardstock over and mark which is the top and bottom of the image (the bottom being the inside edge of the punch). It is important to turn the cardstock over to mark this, as you are wanting the punch to sit the way the image will appear when stamped. Now place each flower image in turn onto your acrylic block and with the punched out flower, sit it over the rubber image, turning it until it sits snuggly around the flower (there really is only one best way). When you've found it, mark on the edge of the rubber, where the bottom is (as shown in the bottom left photo here). Repeat for each flower image. I have marked the bottom, so that now when I stamp the image, I stamp it with the bottom mark of the image to the edge of the cardstock, so that I can slot it directly into the punch, without having to cut away excess cardstock to line it up. I have also marked the rubber that I store them in, so that I know which way round it sits neatly back in the case. I hope this makes sense. I think once you start rotating the cardstock, you'll see how it fits better one way more so than the others. Telford Regional Training Day - 11 May 2013 FREE Swap Tutorial Supplies needed: Cardstock Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Lucky Limeade Inks Whisper White, Basic Grey, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso Tools, Punches and Stamp Sets Two Tags Bigz Die, Ticket Duo Builder, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack, 1 3/4 or 2 3/8 Scallop Circle Punch, Jewelry Tag Punch, Bird Builder Punch, Beautiful Wings Embosslits, Made for you Stamp Set, Woodgrain Accessories Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Glue Dots, Natural Trim Ribbon, Linen Thread Step by Step Instructions Take a scrap of cardstock with a part punched scallop circle and with Whisper White Ink, sponge the ink along the inside edge of the scallop, onto your Pool Party Tag, to create a cloud effect. Repeat over the top part of the tag until you get your desired sky look. Note: You can use either the 1 3/4" or 2 3/8" Scallop Circle. Stamp the Woodgrain image, using Basic Grey Ink, onto long strips of 6 cm deep Whisper White Cardstock (Stamp off and use Second Edition Stamp technique for a lighter Grey) Note: If you are only making one tag, the cardstock will need to be 6 x 7.2cm Cut cardstock into strips of 0.9 x 6 cm ... you need 8. Slide the tip of each strip of cardstock (except one) into the Jewelry Tag Punch (as shown above) only punching one end Stick the unpunched strip along the top edge of the 7.5 x 5cm piece of Lucky Limeade Cardstock and then the punched slats, to create the picket fence When you've completed your fence, trim excess wooden slats along the bottom if needed and run back through the big shot, using the Two Tags Bigz Die, to create the bottom edge of the tag Adhere dimensionals to the back of the fence and create two vertical lines of 3 dimensionals on the Tag, from just below the score line upwards, where you want your flowers to sit. Using the excess side strips of your dimensionals, add a height to one stem Using the Itty Bitty Punch Set, punch a LOT of flowers out of Wisteria Wonder cardstock and crumple between your fingers (you can do several at a time), before attaching the screwed up flowers to each dimensional line, until covered Add the Calypso Coral Butterfly and the leaves using Glue Dots Attach the fence to the main tag, lining up the bottom edge and tucking the leaves between the fence posts Using the Woodgrain Stamp, Crumb Cake Ink and the Second Edition Stamping technique, stamp strips of Crumb Cake Card Stock Print your chosen sentiment with Early Espresso Ink and punch out using the Ticket Duo Builder, before adding this with Snail adhesive to the fence Slot your ribbon through the curved cut at the top of the tag and secure with a bow of Linen Thread Enjoy making and creating your own versions! Thank you for joining us on another Pinkies Blog Hop! We are showcasing lots of gorgeous projects from the new Stampin' Up! ® Autumn/Winter Seasonal Catalogue. A very warm welcome to you, especially if you have hopped to me from the lovely Tracy's blog - I do love seeing how creative other people are, don't you? :O) There are soooo many yummy things in the new Autumn/Winter Catalogue - I think that it is one of the best yet! So many fantastic ideas for packaging, gifts and decorations..I love it all! Well, nearly all.... I'm a bit squeamish about (ok, terrified, of) spiders and so I think I may have to give the aptly-named "Frightful Wreath Simply Created Kit" on page 37 a wide berth - but only because of the beaded spider in the kit! (It seems that the dreaded annual 'Spider-month' has come early to my house this year and the hairy blighters have been both large in numbers and size so far ... eww... so I am extra spooked by them now - bleuuugh!!) I do, however, like the rest of the wreath though... and I do like Halloween a LOT... so I may just have to bypass the eight-legged beastie and get myself one of the kits afterall... Anyway, talking of Halloween, that brings me to my blog-hop projects that I would like to share with you today: One of my favourite things to do for Halloween is to make themed treats to give to people. As soon as I saw the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits Die and the box ideas in the new Stampin' Up! catalogue, I just knew that they would make great pumpkins due to the lovely curved shape and had to give it a try.... So, here is what I came up with: With my Bigshot and the thinlits, I used Pumpkin Pie cardstock to make the box and drew lines on it with the brush-tip end of my Pumpkin Pie Write Marker, to look like the ridges of the pumpkin. To make the leaves, I use the ever-useful Autumn Accents Bigz Die (from the Annual Catalogue) to cut out three of the serrated (Beech?) leaves from Old Olive cardstock. To give the leaves some texture I folded them in half - to make the central vein - and then pinched the serrations with my fingers to make more vein-like indentations along both sides of the leaves. Here is a view of the box from above, to show you better:  I made the tendrils by using my paper trimmer to cut long, tapered slivers from a piece of Old Olive cardstock and then rolled them tightly around my trusty Paper-Piercing Tool to produce the curved spirals. I then carefully glued them onto the uppermost box closure flap with Tombow Multipurpose Liquid glue, so that the box can be safely opened, to get to the sweeties inside it, without damaging the box. I couldn't resist making the cute little punch-art toad to go with it! He is made using the Small Oval Punch and the Owl Builder Punch - his smile comes from the little bit that you cut out using the notch-end of the punch from the fabby new Gift Box Punch Board, that is also in the new catalogue (I LOVE that new punch board, so easy to make fantastic boxes really quickly and easily!). After I had made the pumpkin, I began to think about what else I could make using the Curvy Keepsake Thinlets for Halloween and gosh, so many ideas sprang into my head! I decided to make a black witch's cat next... Just after I'd made the cat, I saw, on a facebook group, THE most amazing idea for a witch using the same thinlits. It was made by a lady called Lynn Starzl in America, so, I just had to CASE her idea and make a witch to complete my Halloween trio. Come and see: HOW cute is that witch?!! :O) Thank you Lynn! I love the use of the burlap ribbon strands for her hair and the hat is made from another of my favourite new things from the Autumn/Winter catalogue: the new Tree Punch!! So clever! The witch's hat slots over the box handles, so, it can easily be removed when you want to open the box and get to the treats inside! How clever is that?! I used the Owl Builder Punch for both the cat's and the witch's eyes and nose. The whiskers were hand-drawn with my white uni-ball Signo® Gel Pen. The cats ears are cut down from the Small Oval punch shapes. I DO love Stampin' Up's punches - they are just SO versatile! I have also used the same Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits to make several Christmas-themed boxes, other animals and even an Easter Chick (a little bit ahead of myself there, I know, but it shows that the catalogue items are not just for Autumn and Christmas!!). I will show you more ideas on future blog posts, so do come back again soon to see them. Our favorite way to embellish them is by cutting the pieces in half on the top so you can open it with out having to take all the cute stuff off. The clips worked great for this. If we put all the ribbon and on the clip it was easy to put back on after you open it. See how we cut our pieces in half. To use 2 different sides, fold your paper like the picture shows. Hey there! Today we’re sharing our swaps for the 2015 Gold Coast Convention: Butterfly Curvy Keepsake Boxes.

If you enjoyed seeing Blossom the Lion yesterday, then I think you'll enjoy these birdie boxes made with the fabulous curvy keepsake die. I made these back in October/November too but hopefully you'll forgive the delay since I've shared my punch cheat sheets for them so you can easily make your own little guys. One sweet birdie I'd seen this this cute owl box by Sarah in my Pinterest travels & loved the look of the wings. I wasn't really sure how she'd made them so I had a play & adapted the scallop circle punch to fit the curved side of the box. You can see all the pieces I used in this cheat sheet pic: You might notice that it shows to add some birdie feet. Sadly, the modern label punch used is retiring (& I believe is now sold out) but she still looks cute without them. You could also use the blossom punch as an alternative (see penguin below). Here's a final joined pic so you can pin or save the 2 pics together to use later. A Christmas Penguin There were LOTS of penguin boxes around last Christmas. Mine is mainly adapted from one in this vid by Amanda Fowler with little twists by me. Here's my punch cheat sheet. I used a bone folder to curve the punched ovals for his wings. I've given 2 options for the feet - using the blossom punch & modern label punch - both of which are retiring (I know!). One other note - the Santa hat is attached to the box base using a punched word window, folded in half into an L shape. I attached one half to the back of the hat & the other to the base. WOW!!! I am IN LOVE with the new Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits Die in the new Holiday Catalog! I just can't stop making things with it....and I have so many other things I should be doing...need to be doing! Like getting ready for my workshops that are coming up, working on some SWAP cards, doing a little scrapbooking...BUT NO!!!! I AM COMPLETELY OBSESSED and here is why! Could this apple be any cuter! I added some leaves from the Bird Builder Punch and the ABC's are made with the Little Letters Thinlits Die. For the pig you simple use your circle punches! The nostrils are made with Basic Pearls that I colored with my Blendabilities and the pupil of the eyes are candy dots! A basic pumpkin...but wouldn't it be a beautiful at each setting on your Thanksgiving table. The sentiment is from the For All Things stampset and the leaves are stamped in VersaMark with the Fall Fest stampset and then cut with the Fun Fall Framelits Dies. The turkey just might be my favorite. I used the Feathers framelits to cut out three colors of leaves....Cajun Craze, Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey. I used the triangle punch to make the nose and the heart punch for the wattle. Again I used candy dots for the pupils of the eyes. The sentiment is from the Gratitude For Days stamp set and the acorn is from the Autumn Wooden Elements set. As an afterthought...I should have dry embossed the feathers! Wouldn't this Jack-O-Lantern be cute to give to the students in your kids classroom? I think my nine year will be able to make them herself. She already knows how to use my Big Shot...I just need to teach her how to heat emboss that ghost which is from the Fall Fest stamp set and cut out with the Fun Fall Framelits Dies. The BOO is stamped with the Blockhead Letters stamp set. This Christmas ornament is so nice....kind of elegant with all the shine and glitter! The JOY is from the Trendy Trims stamp set. I heat embossed it with silver embossing powder. I then cut it out with the oval ornament in the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits die and I cut another out of a scrap piece of Silver Foil Sheet! I then added a new embellishment from the Holiday Catalog....All Is Calm Snowflakes. I still have in the works...a reindeer, a horse, a cow, a chicken...and wouldn't a baseball, basketball, tennis or bowling ball be cute! I have to put it AWAY for a few days...and get busy with some other projects...but STAY TUNED! There's more to come!!

Hey there! Today we’re sharing our swaps for the 2015 Gold Coast Convention: Butterfly Curvy Keepsake Boxes.

Hi Stamper! So, if you follow our Instagram (Jomina.Creations) you probably saw this really cute retro trailer made with the Curvy Keepsake Thinlits (Holiday Catalogue pg. 11) and wondered how to make it. We've decided to post the instructions here and then post a video tutorial later on. We hope you love this project and hope to see your CASE (copy and share everything) of this project! Make sure to hashtag #jominacreations 1. Using the Curvy Keepsake Thinlits (item #135853) cut two of the box thinlit in Whisper White (two makes one complete box) 2. Cut two of the curvy keepsake boxes in Costal Cabana 3. Cut the Coastal Cabana at the scored lines (created by the thinlit) away from the "box base" 4. Cut the Coastal Cabana at 1 1/4" 5. Glue Whisper White Box Together at square base. 6. Glue the Coastal Cabana pieces to the Whisper White box using either Fast Fuse Adhesive (item #129026) or Sticky Strip (item #104294) 7. Using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool (item #122334) score the box every 1/4" 8. Cut Silver Foil Paper (item #132178) in 1/8" strips and glue onto all four sides of the box. Cut to length. 9. Cut Silver Foil Paper in dimensions pictured above. 10. Cut Whisper White paper in dimensions pictured above. 11. Glue pieces together to create a door and window. 12. Glue door and window onto box using Fast Fuse or Sticky Strip. 13. Punch three, 3/4" circles and one, 1/2" in Basic Black paper. 14. Punch five, 1/2" circles in Whisper White paper. 15. Glue the three of the 1/2" Whisper White circles onto three, 3/4" Basic Black circles. Draw a dot with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker (item #100082) in the middle of the Whisper White Circles. These are three tires. 16. Dimensional one tire onto the window and one on each side of the trailer. 17. Glue the coastal cabana piece of the curvy keepsake (keep me piece) onto the bottom of the trailer, to create a "hitch". 18. Roll a piece of Basic Black paper and use a glue dot to attach to 1/2" Basic Black circle, this will create a stand. Place into slot. 19. Roll a piece of Whisper White 3/4" thick and glue a 1/2" Whisper White circle to each end. Glue this tube dot onto the "hitch." This completes the project.
