Wondering what to do with your gelli prints? I've been searching for ideas from other blogs and artists and Pinterest. 1. Start by buying some frames and framing them, the mat around the print finishes it off cleanly. 2. Add some meaningful words: 3. Bookmarks and Tags: Mine are sticking together which may be due to the humidity or the glossy paint so if anyone has any suggestions as how to get them not to stick I would love to hear from you. Transparent gesso??? Love the dressform shape, top right, I even bought some lace to glue on. :D 4. Collage - which was the original purpose that I bought the gelli plate for - so I could make my own papers to use in collage that weren't ones under copyright. Make a heap of textured backgrounds: a) Landscape scenes: Ripped/Torn: Scissors: Abstract/strips: Hundertwasser's Red Streets was the inspiration for these: I love Hundertwasser's use of colour and houses - he would say my houses and streets are too straight...and where are your lollipop trees??? Stayed tuned..... b) Cards: I started to print directly onto the cards but I was getting paint on the inside of the card due to messy hands so with the two below I glued the background onto the card then added the shapes and a little more detail is going to be added with paint pens. c) Altered Playing Cards These are a lot of work - each card needs to be sanded and gessoed before being glued/collaged and I need to decide if I'm going to put in one hinge ring in the top right corner or two in book style. Then I need to decide/know do I sell the whole deck at once for one price or break them down into suites. Well, I've had a lot of fun this week preparing for the Bickley Harvest Festival on 4th and 5th May where I'll be selling my paintings, pendants and prints and tags and cards at Myattsfield Vineyard. I'm still unsure of prices, even more so after a sales lady said I'd be lucky to get $2 for my prints as she has trouble getting people to pay $1.60 for scrapbooking paper! Confidence shattered after talking to her but she only saw pics from my iphone and I think she may have thought that I was asking her to sell them. After this experience I read an excellent blogpost by Leonie Dawson on How to work out pricing for what you sell. I'm still unsure of prices even though I've checked out Etsy - not a lot of gelli prints for sale (some 6in squares for $45, I was thinking a lot less for mine), whilst they don't take long to create there is a lot of other time that has gone into making them such as research, education and making and buying tools. If you have any idea of pricing then please let me know. I think we are all caught up - I really should post after each arty session but I just haven't had time lately. Thank you for reading, have a great weekend and stay safe. Love and hugs. Here are some more of my blogs about my gelli art. ETA: Do you love creating gelli prints? Want a place to discuss gelli printing? To show off your work? Share your ideas? Discuss the pros and cons of different paints/paper/plates/tools etc? These illustrations are from a FIRST EDITION of the classic A Child's Garden of Verses, illustrated by the wonderful Jessie Wilcox Smith. These illustrations are reproduced quite a bit--but they are never as fresh as when scanned directly from a first edition, which I own. The difference is obvious. Perfect to frame and hang on the wall as adorable vintage style wall art. Or use in scrapbooking, tags, greeting cards, etc., etc. This color illustration measures approximately 4.417" x 6". You are purchasing an incredibly sharp, clear, digital image scanned at a high resolution, 300dpi in jpg form. Once payment is received, you will be able to INSTANTLY DOWNLOAD YOUR IMAGE. Our images can fit on 8.5 x 11 paper. **THE ANNOYING WATERMARK WILL NOT APPEAR ON YOUR DOWNLOAD** What fabulous things can you create? Announcements, Invitations, and place cards, (think wedding, engagements, baby!) Paper Arts: Jewelry: Used on transfers: Print and Frame For: Greeting cards Earrings Tee-shirts Baby's Nursery Stationery Bracelets Tote bags Child's Room Bookmarks Necklaces Pillows Wall Decor Gift tags Napkins Scrapbooking Dish towels Altered Art Ribbons Card Making And any magical thing your artistic bent can create! The Fine Print (No pun intended) Do's Do make fantastico art with our digital delights! Don'ts Do not use our images in digital collage sheets, resell them, reproduce them in a compilation cd for resale, or share them with buddies. We and our little elves work tirelessly to ferret out special pieces of paper ephemera, which we then scan and restore to perfection for the discerning creative customer. Taking our work and reselling or redistributing is not only bad form, it angers our little pals. And you don't want to make an elf mad! So please refrain from practices that you would not want done to your artwork. Thank you!
Hi, I'm Cher. Hope you enjoy your time here perusing some of my favourite things and beautiful scenes that have caught my eye. I do not own any of these photos unless mentioned as my own.
Hello Bloggers! Hope you are all doing well. After all the rain this past weekend it has been great to see the sunshine and enjoy being outdoors! I am so glad the winter is drawing to a close and the severe cold is behind us! Welcome April! I wanted to share my "Tag of the Month" with you today. I went all mixed media this month and created an Anna Dabrowska inspired tag. The tag I used in a #10 large manila craft tag from Ranger. I prepped the entire tag with gesso first. I applied some light modeling paste through a few stencils to add some texture to the background. Then I grabbed all kinds of random embellishments from flowers, beads, old jewelry, metal gears, a paint brush tip, lace, alpha letters ... and glued them down. Once dry, I recoated the whole tag with gesso making sure to cover everything. I added a second layer of gesso in some of the more dimensional areas. This is kinda cool like it is but it's begging for color! So, next comes the fun part. I must admit, I let this sit for SEVERAL days before I added color. I was trying to decide what colors and then was afraid I would ruin it. However, learning is what allows you to grow as an artist, so I jumped in. I tried some ink sprays that have been around a long time but are new to me. Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays are the newest addition to my arsenal of ink sprays!! Lindy's Stamp Gang has four types of ink sprays as well as embossing powders and other products. I used the Starburst Sprays which are two toned dye based sprays that have gorgeous shimmer. I decided to go with pink, teal and green sprays. Now, I didn't have teal yet in Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays so I used my Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Teal. I sprayed two shades of pink for the flowered cluster, then added the teal on the right side of the tag and then added several shades of green sprays to the left and bottom of the tag. I constantly had my heat tool going to dry each color before adding the next one so they wouldn't run together. If I added too much I used a baby wipe and took it off - this is the beauty of gesso!! Here's the final result ... The textures on this tag are so cool and the shimmer sprays highlight the dimensionality of the tag. Here's some close-ups ... It's hard to see but as a final layer I pounced a Versamark ink pad on random parts of the tag, added UTEE and heated it with the heat tool. Some of the raised areas now have a waxy appearance!! I am so happy how this came out and am working on another one, applying lessons I learned from this tag. The layout is a bit different and I will share that with you soon along with some exciting news (times two)!! Thanks for letting me share this with you and I feel like this process has enhanced my love for mixed media! Hope you have a great week and I'd love to hear from you, anytime!!
