Each player is dealt a card, face down. Without looking at the card, players place their cards in their headbands, or hold them up so all other players can see the picture. Choose who will go first. On your turn, flip over the timer and ask each of the other players a question that will help you identify the picture on your head. Once you’ve asked all the players a question, continue going around the circle asking questions until you guess the picture on your card. If you can guess your picture before the time runs out, pick another card and put it in your headband (remember not to peek!). As soon as the time is up, it is the next player's turn. One of our favorite activities of the summer was going to Hero camp with my cousin Amber. A few moms from her stake put this on every year and it is just AWESOME! All moms that sign up their kids have to volunteer one day so it ends up being a team effort. The kids spend the whole week learning about Book of Mormon Hero's in a really fun and creative way. Each day they had a Book of Mormon Hero come in and talk to the kids about his life. The kids really enjoyed this and got excited about meeting their Hero's each day. One day my cousin Jeff came as Nephi and I heard Paul yell out over all the kids "LOOK MOM IT"S NEPHI!!!!" to him it REALLY was Nephi :D Each day was jam packed full of activities, scavenger hunts, dog shows, pictures, singing, scriptures, crafts and snacks! I know that this is something my boys will never forget and I hope we have the opportunity to participate again. I tried to take as many pictures as I could but I still had to take care of Ben which made it difficult! Monday.... Paul was so excited to finally be old enough to participate! He always has to watch the "big boys" go to school and parties etc... but now that he is 4 he gets to do things with the "big boys"! This was a pretty hectic morning because the kids were super excited and didn't know what to expect, but this girl was just AMAZING with the kids! She had them laughing, singing songs and having a GREAT time! After the opening ceremonies they were off to do crafts and other fun activities! Tuesday... Tuesday was great because they started the day with a dog show!!! What kid doesn't want to watch dogs do tricks!?!? My kids talked about this for weeks! Even Ben and Mary enjoyed the show :) These dogs were pretty amazing! Here is Joseph..... Brig.... and Paul enjoying the show! Wednesday... Here are a few of the activities they did on Wednesday.... they went into the gym which was full of timed stations with little challenges at each one. Here is Joseph trying to stack his apples the highest... ...it was quite a challenge to get them to stay put!! But Joseph was a good sport... then they had to shoot down soda cans with rubberbands... Brig was proud to be the only one who actually knocked them all down! And they had to move cotton balls from one bowl to another without using their hands! Paul got to be in the same group as his cousin Karen! (my cousin Ambers little girl) They had alot of fun together and it was great to see them get to know each other a little bit. WE carpooled with my friend Amber Lowry so I had a car FULL of boys! After Hero camp on Wednesday we met Grandma Bettie and my cousin Katie at the beach. The boys love the beach and ALWAYS have a great time there! Group picture :) Thursday... Amber was in charge of one full day and I was on her crew to help out and set up. She had her brother Jeffrey come in as Nephi and tell about his trials and the adversity he faced and how he trusted in the Lord and was blessed. They had a "Book of Mormon Hero" come in at the beginning of each day to talk to the kids. It was so cute to see their excitement as they got to meet their Hero's! The kids REALLY got into it! Jeff (I mean Nephi ;) did a great job with the kids! Some of the kids sang a song for Nephi! We made a the gym into a Beach Party! The goal was to teach them to work together as a team as they moved from one station to the next... This was Pauls group. and this was Brigs group.... I missed Josephs group :( The parachute was a BIG HIT of coarse! Here is Paul with a few kids in his group. They couldn't get enough of the bouncer... .... and they learned to work as a team as they played soccer... ...even the big kids had a good time! ...they had to dig through the balls to find puzzle pieces and then work as a team to put the puzzle together... ..and they had to compete against another group to see who could stack the buckets to the line first. They had a great time at our "beach party" learning how to be team players! On the last day of Hero Camp we had a graduation ceremony for the kids. They got to do skits, sing and dance and at the end they were given certificates, medals and a little scrapbook of their week. It was a really cute little ceremony (I got it on video that's why I don't have pictures of it). Here's a picture of the boys showing off their medals and their scrapbooks. After the "Graduation" they had a party at the Lagoon. They had a great time swimming and playing with all their new friends...and it was SUCH a beautiful day! Ben finally got to participate in the fun!!! I just love this picture of Ben! He e looks like a little Cupie doll or the Coppertone baby! He is so dang cute, I just want to eat him up ! And look at what a sweet boy Paul is! Again...he was such a good sport with his cast on! Brig helped take care of him to make sure he didn't get his cast wet. They had so much fun and DID NOT want to leave. What an AMAZING week! I am SO GRATEFUL that my boys were able to participate in Hero camp and see the Book of Mormon come to life. I know this is an experience they will never forget! These are the little things that over time increase their faith and build their testimonies. I can't express how grateful I am to have the Gospel in my life and all the WONDERFUL people who love and care about my children and their well being. It truly takes a village to raise a child and I am so grateful for all the support that I receive from other church members. I hope I can give back as much as I am given :)

Our Primary put on a ward activity this evening-- "Book of Mormon Challenge". Our ward has a goal for everyone to read the Book of Mormon this year and this was a bit of a kickoff activity. Abe served as our announcer-- his name was "Amazoriantumr". We had dinner and lots of games for families to play. Clark built our "Ruins of Ammonihah". You had to race against someone else to blow a ping-pong ball through the maze. In "Nephi's Beast Hunt" you tried to hit the beasts with toy balls. As you can imagine the girls were horrified to see their precious webkins abused in such a manner. No actual animals were harmed in the playing of this game. In "Samuel the Lamanite" the goal was to shoot Samuel off his wall with a nerf gun. The little lady with the gun in this picture is WAY too close. No shooting Samuel point blank. I had to intercede and make them step back. This was a popular table. If you thought shooting Samuel was bad, "Waters of Sebus" was downright grotesque-- but in a funny sort of way. If you recall, the Waters of Sebus was the location of Ammon's cutting off the arms of the Lamanite robbers. I am swinging arms (made of nylons and stuffing) and I'm about to throw them to Abe and Elinor who will try to catch them in a towel. Very fun. Somewhat irreverent, but fun. We had a few other games: "Amalickiah's Poison Darts" (blowing toothpicks through straws into boxes), "Book of Mormon Trivia" (answer BOM questions), and "Symbols of Zarahemla" (a matching game). The final game was "The Title of Liberty Challenge". There were two teams racing to have everyone on their team put on the t-shirt, and sign their name. It was close and very funny watching people getting tangled up in the shirt trying to do it quickly. Overall the activity was very well attended and I think people enjoyed themselves. And I'm glad it's done. Good night.

It is that time of year again! Time to put together the Scripture Mastery Mad Gabs! when I began teaching seminary, this was one of my favorite activities.
This past weekend Dale and I were able to participate in our Stake Youth Conference along with the girls. Youth Conference was titled, Moroni's Quest. We spent the 3 days and reenacted stories from the Book of Mormon in chronological order.All the wards were in charge of a reenactment and there were some that were done by multiple kids in the Stake. They prerecorded all the speaking parts and music so the kids just had to get up and perform and not have to memorize their lines, it was their voice in the recording though. We didn't stay in wards though, we stayed in tribes and Dale and I were tribe leaders. Our tribe was The Smithling Warriors aka the Jimmerites.There were many creative tribe names. It started off at the Stake Center and they did the story of Lehi's family and the slaying of Laban. We then headed off to a ranch that was owned by someone in our Stake about 50 miles west of us. Some of our Tribe at the the church Our lime green head bands were easy to spot View from our tent when we arrived at the ranch These guys were on the ranch. They pretty much got out of your way when you came by. The longhorn that is in front is expecting Our tribe at the first reenactment Day 2 Our tribe flag Brittney and Marti Brittney was in the "With all your Mights" tribe Dale, directing our Ward's reenactment He looks so official This is our Ward's reenactment, King Noah and Abinadi Makenzie is dancing for King Noah in this scene and Brittney is fanning him. Marti and Makenzie Makenzie's tribe was the "Anti-Fight-Contrites aka no fights" We are still smiling Dale the Nephite Warrior Dale the serious warrior Makenzie the Lamanite warrior Smile Brittney Helaman and the Stripling Warriors Battle Makenzie and friends in battle Dale is dead We knelt down instead of laying down due to all the cow pies Our Tribe The Jimmerites The Jimmerites camp site Root beer float time After the root beer floats we headed back to the reenactment place. They did the story of Samuel the Lamanite and there was Samuel on the wall preaching and the kids all threw paper bombs at him. It was fun. We then proceeded to another spot where the kids were all spread out and blind folded. All the youth were blind folded while they listened to booming thunder It was dark while the youth listened to the storm. They had them take off their blind folds and out of the trees with fog came a person all in white. It was a reenactment of Christ coming to visit. They man chosen to depict Christ was in a shining white robe and had a spot light on him. He came through the crowd and shook hands while the song, This is the Christ" was playing. You can't even put into words the feelings people had. After he departed we went back into our tribe camp site and had a testimony meeting. One of our youth commented, that even though it wasn't really Christ, they still wanted to touch him and another one said it made them want to be with him. It was a very spiritual experience for the youth and the adults. After the testimony meeting we looked up to a clear sky. The kids laid on a blanket and star gazed Some of our tribe star gazing Jimmerite headband Day 3 Breaking camp before breakfast and the final battles Brittney lines up on the Nephite side for the flour battle The flour bombs are made by putting flour into nylons and tyeing hem closed. When you get hit with one they leave flour marks. You can pick them up and use them over and over I got into the action Brittney Makenzie She's getting excited to go home and shower After the flour battle we had another battle between the Nephites and Lamanites where Moroni was the last Nephite alive and he buried the plates. they then had Moroni coming back to give the plates to Joseph Smith. It was a great learning experience for the youth and hopefully they had fun participating in it. When we got home, we were hot and dirty. It was in the 90's this weekend and there was no running water at this ranch, they brought in port-a-potties and had coolers of water set up every where for drinking, but that was it! The girls and I decided to knock a layer of dirt off by jumping into the pool with our clothes on. When we got home we jumped in the pool with our clothes on. I kind of cheated, I took my jean shorts off and put my running shorts on That felt good

Book of Mormon Escape Room for Kids 8-12 is perfect for scripture family games, LDS games, Sunday School games or Scripture games. Create a fun Sunday School lesson or activity or a family game night with your kids in your home or in your classroom. The kids have to figure out 10 clues to "escape" the room.
