"Kto czyta książki, żyje podwójnie" Umberto Eco Czy życie jest gdzie indziej, jak pisał Milan Kundera? Nie, życie jest tutaj. A najwięcej życia w życiu (688 stron!) znalazłam w opus magnum Georgesa Pereca "Życie instrukcja obsługi": Życie instrukcja obsługi. Powieści (La Vie mode d'emploi), Fundacja Literatura Światowa, 2001, tł. Wawrzyniec Brzozowski, ISBN 83-900273-6-4 To pierwsze wydanie polskie tej powieści z 1978r. - ukazało się w 2001r. Moja ukochana książka. Miałam problem, by ją zdobyć, Fasolka zakupiła mi w stolicy. Przeczytałam jak tylko dostałam, w 2002 roku. Powieść jest fascynującym efektem geniuszu i precyzyjnej i metodycznej pracy. Autora zauroczył rysunek satyryka amerykańskiego Saula Steinberga z 1947 roku: (Źródło: Jan Gondowicz, Pereca instrukcja obsługi, "Przekrój", nr 17-18 (2966-2967), 28.04.2002, s. 86). Miejscem akcji jest 10-piętrowa (łącznie z piwnicą) kamienica w Paryżu. Perec opisał losy setki lokatorów tego budynku, którzy przez 90 lat przewinęli się przez 30 kamienicznych mieszkań. Autor potraktował budynek jako stupolową szachownicę zwiedzaną mniej więcej od środka ruchem konika szachowego. W każdym pomieszczeniu (rozdziale) ulokował pewne rekwizyty, które wcześniej spisał na 42 listach po 10 pozycji. Każdy rozdział zawiera m.in. wzmiankę o jednej z póz jakiejś postaci, opis czynności, cytat z wybranego autora, liczbę, uwagę o ścianach i podłodze, o konkretnej epoce, zwierzęciu, stroju, kolorze, sławnym obrazie, grze, gatunku kwiatów, o jednej z rzeczy do pary, a także o czymś, czego brak oraz jakieś kłamstwo. Fascynujący przykład geniuszu i niesamowitej twórczej dyscypliny. A odnosząc się do cytatu na początku posta: dzięki tej książce można żyć stokrotnie. Co najmniej. Jedna z książek mojego życia.
