This photograph was taken on Block Island in the last waning days of summer. He was setting up a sunset shot at another location he changed course as a dramatic quality of sky and light to the south was emerging and impossible to ignore. He quickly made my way southward and down to the foot of Mohegan Bluffs where he placed my tripod in shallow water with just enough time to make this photograph before the glow faded away. The print is made in the artist's studio with pigmented inks on museum-quality, acid-free, cotton rag paper. The combination of ink and paper is of the very highest archival quality. When displayed properly it will maintain its beauty and richness for generations. Print is signed and numbered by the artist with archival pen on front in the lower white border. In Meteora, karsts rise out of a dense forest, their jagged peaks reaching out to the heavens. As the fog slowly moves to reveal red-roofed monasteries on cliff tops, you cannot help but wonder if there was a mythical giant that placed them there by hand like a couple of Lego blocks. At least, that was my first thought when I saw a monastery in Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the mainland in Greece, a country whose appeal is often overshadowed by its glamorous islands.
