ABOUT THE ARTWORK An ethnic group or ethnic group is a category of people who identify themselves based on similarities, such as common ancestry, language, history, society, culture or nation. This series immerses in the diversity of the races, seeking to explore these different ethnicities through colors, traces and visual elements. The Brazilian population is quite mixed. This was due to the mixture of different human groups that happened in the country. There are countless races that favored the formation of the Brazilian people. The main groups were indigenous peoples, Africans, European and Asian immigrants. Inspired by the book O Povo Brasileiro - work of the Brazilian anthropologist Darcy Ribeiro, launched in 1995 - ETHNIC honors this mixture and celebrates the equality of races, religions and forms. Description Introducing the "HeadsBack" Hoodie, a powerful and thought-provoking representation of the longing for the return of looted African artefacts to their rightful home. The "HeadsBack" Hoodie is a masterpiece created through a collaborative project with Ayotimoty, a Nigerian-born, London-based contemporary abstract artist. This hoodie embodies the artist's vision and serves as a medium to raise awareness about the cultural heritage that has been taken away from Africa. The design of the hoodie features the heads of looted African artefacts, symbolising the pieces of history and cultural significance that Africans yearn to see returned to their rightful place. Each head represents a story, a connection to the past, and a plea for justice. It serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of preserving and honouring African heritage.
