As a parent, balancing our daily lives with our values can seem like balancing two wriggling toddlers in each arm. Take eco-friendliness, for example. Thanks to Pinterest, this post is getting a lot of attention! I've made some edits to explain a few more things in pink! Let me know if you have any more questions and I'll answer them in the comments section! Thanks for visiting! **All Sesame Street Characters and pictures for this party were cut outs from the Sesame Street Friends and Sesame Street Fonts Cricut cartridges. I found them on EBAY!*** I still have some catch up to do from the last few weeks, but I know everyone wants to see my pictures from Luke's birthday party so here they are! Luke is way into Sesame Street (SS) these days. He knows all the characters and watches it at least once a day sometimes twice. So I was happy to do a Sesame Street party for him despite the amount of work it took! Luke woke up pretty happy on Saturday morning, I sang Happy Birthday to him and he loved it. He also loved all the decorations we put up the night before and pointed to all the SS characters. Right after breakfast we let him open his present from his G & G brown. He had a fun time ripping off the paper bits at a time. When Scott pulled it out the box he shouted "car" and we put it together quickly for him to push around which he did for a good 20 minutes. It's a bubble mower so we put the bubbles in it and took it outside. He would stop and look at the bubbles when they would come out--he was fascinated. The party didn't start until 11:30, we spent the morning cleaning up and working on Luke's cake! Scott helped a lot actually--he did all the red stars on the cake. I was impressed. Working on this cake made me realize I needed more than one frosting bag to decorate a cake. Oi. We used a wilton Elmo cake pan for the shape. I borrowed it from a friend---chances are you can find a neighbor or friend who has one! We had coloring pages for the kids to color when they came in. I just googled "Sesame Street Birthday coloring pages" and found a bunch free online The Letter of the Day was L for Luke, and Number was 2 for 2 years old I made this banner. I plan on laminating it and using it for future parties. All the characters I'm going to laminate and put in a quiet book or something for Luke. Random Party shot. Scott also made the cookie monster box. This was a game they could play--I made felt cookies and the kids toss them in to cookies mouth--feeding cookie monster. The cookies are two felt circles hot glued together--leave and opening and fill with rice--then glue it shut. Then hot glue black felt pieces on for the chocolate chips! We also had them play pin the nose on the Elmo--I wish I'd had a chance to get a picture of them actually doing it. We blindfolded the older kids but just let the little ones--Luke and Isaac--just stick the nose on.I made all the SS characters using SS Cricut cartridges. It made it a lot easier, but it was still tricky and time consuming. This was another game we played in the background--"Count the Cookies" Everyone just entered a guess as to how many cookies were in the jar (a cleaned out peanut butter jar) and the person who came closest got to take home the jar! So funny and somewhat not so funny story about the pizza. We ordered it at 11:30 and it was only supposed to take 30 minutes--arriving at just the right time for the party. However. An hour later, upon calling to find out what was up, we find that the delivery guy got in a car accident! They sent another guy to go retrieve our pizzas and bring them to our house, but they didn't get here until 1:15 (the party was supposed to be over at 1). Then we opened up the boxes and found that our pizzas didn't do to well in the accident themselves! They were all squished to the side! (and they were lukewarm, not hot like they should have been) After mostly everyone left, Scott called the manager and he gave us FIVE free future pizzas. sweeeet. I love how all the kids crowd around while the presents are opened. My brother Al, his wife Stephanie, and my younger brother Steve were able to come up during their lunch break at the bike shop. (They all work at Taylor's Bike Shop in Provo) Chilling on the stairs with Uncle Derek Birthday Cake Pictures! We have a really cute video of Luke dancing while everyone sings Happy Birthday to him. I'll have to work on getting that up this week. The End!
