Guess I went a little pastel crazy with this one. Mo has really captured the modern day teen/young adult with this stamp. Her name is Roxy and she is the image I chose to use for my sweet DT sistah Cathy's "Flower" challenge this week at Mo's Digital Pencil. Actually this challenge will last for two weeks as the DT takes a tiny vacay. My flowers come in the form of that yummy rosette trim I've used along the side of my card. Here's a close up of Miss Thang. Copics Used: skin E000, E00, E11, E13, R20, R30 hair E51, E53, E55, E57 clothes E93, E95, E97, BG10, BG11, BG13, R20, R22, R24 robe R81, R83, R85, C00, C2, C4 chair G21, G40, G94 grounding W1, W3, W5 I know that several of you have asked me to do coloring tutes. I have tried but all I have is my Sony Cybershot. It does take videos, but I cannot zoom in close enough with it to be able to show my coloring steps well. Those tutes will probably have to wait until I can purchase a regular video camera. Don't forget that we are having a Guest Designer tryout at Mo's Digital Pencil. Color up something from Mo and make sure you add GDT behind your name when you link up. Have a great Thursday! Zonkers! Bam! Zap! Welcome to the first Group Post Day of the Papertrey Ink January 2015 countdown. Geez oh pete's, do we have some super fun stuff for you today with Secret Agent and Zappy Birthday. I've been needing sets like these in my stash. Great for kids, both boys and girls. And masculine cards for the grown ups too. One of the super neat features of Secret Agent is the "secret message" technique you can create with colored transparencies. Here, I filled my stamped and die cut magnifying glass with red transparency. Both the outer frame and "glass" are different dies that work perfectly together for easy assembly. I also used the greenish blue transparency below to cover up all my stamps and seals. This has the same tone and texture as the red glass of the magnifying glass. The "top secret" seal helps hide my adhesive here. I attached my magnifying glass to my project with a red brad. This allows it to pivot on my card.... .... so the recipient (my nephew in this case), can move it to line up with the Soft Stone "shadowed" magnifying glass to red the secret message. The message was stamped in Hawaiian Shores and covered up with the distortion stamp in Pure Poppy. How crazy cool is that?!?!? ADORE this. And my kids can't stop playing with it. The fun continues to the inside of the card. I have our Secret Agent man giving up some of his secrets. I love the "this message will self destruct" sentiment. Fabulous illustrating on Nichole's part here. I flipped when I saw this guy for the first time. Moving on, we have another great set of products by Lexi with the Zappy Birthday Collection. There's a new cover plate that gives your backgrounds a comic book look (so versatile...comic books are just the beginning here) and great paper to go with them. I created by background with the Comic Book Cover Plate and used all the papers. Next, I created a "seal" like all super heroes have on their outfits, but I used a number for a birthday instead. I added the action bubbles from the Zappy Birthday set and die cut the action words with foil paper to give it that super-duper comic look. I was really struggling with adding my "happy" and "birthday" to my project. It's pretty busy already, so I didn't want to add another color or strong element, but I didn't want those words to get lost either. A drop shadow seemed like the perfect solution. I die cut the words twice, once in True Black, the other in Pure Poppy and one on top of the other. The tone on tone of the Pure Poppy on the patterned paper keeps things subtle, and the slight shading of True Black helps it stand out just enough. Mission accomplished! Are you excited as I am about these two sets? FABULOUS stuff. Can't wait to see what everybody else does with them. Everything will be available on the 15th at 10 PM EST in the store. Need a guide for card sizes? Me too. Most of the cards I make are A2. But, I have a stash of envelopes that are for various card sizes. So, here's a chart that I created with the measurements for the most commonly used card sizes. A1 3 ½ × 4 ⅞ 3.5” × 4.875” A2 4 ¼ × 5 ½ 4.25” × 5.5” A6 4 ½ × 6 ¼ 4.5” × 6.25” A7 5” × 7” Biz 3 ½ × 2 3.5” × 2 Square 5 ½ × 5 ½ 5.5” × 5.5” ETA: I figured it would be nice to have measurements for the corresponding layers. Here you go: Card Size Card Measurements Layers Measurements A1 3 ½ × 4 ⅞ 3.5” × 4.875” 3 ¼ × 4 ⅝ 3.25” × 4.625” A2 4 ¼ × 5 ½ 4.25” × 5.5” 4 × 5 ¼ 4” × 5.25” A6 4 ½ × 6 ¼ 4.5” × 6.25” 4 ¼ × 6 4.25” × 6” A7 5” × 7” 4 ¾ × 6 ¾ 4.75” × 6.75” Biz 3 ½ × 2 3.5” × 2 3 ¼ × 1 ¾ 3.25” × 1.75” Square 5 ½ × 5 ½ 5.5” × 5.5” 5 ¼ × 5 ¼ 5.25” × 5.25”

Hi everyone, thank you for visiting today. I designed this fun Hexagon Pop-Up card with a hidden spring recently. This easy card style requires no specialty dies and is very easy to make. This fold…
It seems like only a moment ago I was sharing my May class projects, (OK I was a bit late with those!), and now I am back again with the June offering. We focussed on creating some 'masculine' type cards as opposed to the flowering ones I seem to have been addicted to recently! We used the Earthen textures stamps, dies and DSP to make the first card. My lovely ladies could choose to make it a birthday or thank you card in class. The second project used Scenic Wonders - more on that in a moment - and the third was a cute card for any book-lover made with the Birds Eye View stamps. If you are on my newsletter list - check your email inbox for your exclusive video on these cards. You can also sign up for my newsletter HERE - so you never miss out on free offerings from me. How do you get on with the distINKtive stamps - like those in the Scenic Wonders stamp set? I have had a bit of a love-hate relationship with them in the past - but I think I have found a way for anyone to love them. I have done a video for you, my demo friends, to show different ways to add colour and get a range of looks using these stamps. You can find the video HERE. I hope you find the video helpful - do you think it will help you find the love for distINKtive stamps? Or did you love them already?
Once I had figured out the way in which to create a Stepper Card I decided that I wanted one a particular size. After a few attempts that did not work I think I now have it cracked. What is a Stepper Card? Well it is a card which has a full size section and then smaller steps (usually 3). Here is one I made earlier J My card has a Full Size section on the left and Steps on the Right, however you could have any combination of Steps and Full Size Sections, here are a few examples. Here is my explanation for creating my Stepper Card, I have shown my measurements in Blue. Card Size The card size will be determined by the size of your steps, so you will need to do a quick bit of maths first, if necessary you can then tweek the size of the steps until you get the finished card size you are after. 1st Step (Smallest ) – decide on the size of your smallest step & multiply by 2 (2cm depth x 2 = 4cm) 2nd Step (Middle) – decide on the size of your middle step & multiply by 2 (4cm depth x 2 = 8cm) If you add both of these measurements together this will then give you the height of the card (4cm + 8cm = 12cm) 3rd Step (Tallest) – this is the height of your card divided by 2 (12cm divided by 2 = 6cm) The size of card you will need for your Card will be the height multiplied by 2 (12cm x 2 = 24cm), the width of the card it up to you to decide (17.8cm). The card blank I used was 5 x 7 inches (12.7cm x 17.8cm) as the height of my steps was 12cm I needed to trim 0.7cm from the height of the card. The width of the card is up to me to decided, I kept it at 17.8cm. Now you have the size of your card and your step sizes you will now need to decide which Stepper Layout to use… On the back of the card you will be using to create your card you will need to take a pencil and draw the lines to show the border between full size and stepper. One half will be a full size card, the other half will be used to create my steps I am using my Hougie Board to score as it makes life so easy, but you could also measure and then score. For each Stepper section you will need to score each of the fold points (I will score at 2, 4, 8, 12, 18cm)… At the middle point (12cm) you will need to score across the width of the card (I have marked my score lines in pen) Turn your card over and score again on the other side – this will ensure that you can create nice crisp folds on your steps Next take a ruler and knife and cut along the border between Full Size & Stepper… ensure that you do not cut the first & last scored section (again I have shown this in pen on my card) Fold the steps and create the main card fold You are now ready to decorate your Stepper Card I hope that is How to… is useful and you can now create stepper cards at ‘Any Size’ you want.
