We need to keep hand embroidery alive, but if we hug our ideas to ourselves, they will become lost and worthless in the future. If I give you a gift, I no longer have it, you do. However, if I give you an idea then we both have it, and if you share this idea with others then we have multiplied it, expanded on it and watch it grow. -Trish Burr Lilac Breasted Roller Trish Burr is a self taught embroiderer. The long and short stitches are worked in rows in a range of shades. Each new row of long and short stitches splits the stitches of the preceding row blending the long and short stitches. The blending of the stitches helps create a realistic design. This technique of needle painting takes several hours of practice to perfect but once the technique becomes familiar it is a very forgiving technique. This afternoon I received the mini pheasants embroidery vintage kit I've bough at Etsy. Nice introduction to something I'm going to do this summer 'cos my dream is to be a bird needle embroidery painter!
This Rare and original Antique Tile Mural Panel Depicting a Blue and White Vase Surrounded by Cherubs Holding Baskets was made in Portugal in the period of 1706–1750. Item Details & Specifics: The late 17th century and the early 18th century was considered to be the 'Golden Age of the Tile’, the so-called Cycle of the Masters. Mass production was started not just because of a greater internal demand, but also because of very large orders from Brazil. Large one-off orders were replaced by the less expensive use of repetitive tile patterns. Churches, monasteries, palaces and even houses were covered inside and outside with tiles, many with exuberant Baroque elements. See in the photo gallery tiles like this in big palaces and churches in Portugal. For examples of similar tiles in monuments, see the photos. Item condition: Two tiles restored. Minor chips and flaws along the Tile Mural Panel. Age weathered surfaces. Condition is appropriate for age and use. See photos for complete assessment. Note: The tile mural panel is glued to a wooden board, the tiles were applicated with plaster to the wooden board, they can be removed but only by a professional. Date: 18th century. Country: Portugal. Material: Glazed Earthenware.
