Most of us are used to experiencing sound as an exclusively auditory experience. But scientist and photography enthusiast Linden Gledhill isn't most of us. He sees it. And he's happy to show how. The Philadelphia-based pharmaceutical biochemist has been playing with cymatics for a few years now, and he's come a long way.
About The Artwork Cymatics is the study of vibration and its effect on the organization of matter. These Cymatic images have been made with a bass shaker that generated a 432 HZ music vibration subjected to water and photographed at a shutter speed of 1/20000 sec. I played with the surface tension of the liquid and some colorants. VBR is also a multidisciplinary exhibition project: photography, video art, sound installation, but also a documentary film on the subject of sound vibration and the use of harmonic sound in scientific, artistic, spiritual and medical research. The VBR project it's organic experimental matter - in work in progress. The process of realizing the work is shared with the audience - exhibition after exhibition, the project is enriched with new artworks, stories, characters, collaborators and partner.
