Easter or Resurrection is the biggest holiday of the year among my Polish friends. Their traditions and recipes for traditional foods vary by the region of the country they or their ancestors called home, but all are good.

Poppies and Peacocks! Friday almost got away from me! Lots of big things in the works, and I am starting to ramp up for the holidays. One thing I can announce today is my participation in the East Austin Studio Tour. This year it is two weekends, Saturday and Sunday, November 13th and 14th and Saturday and Sunday, November 20th and 21st. The hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and I will open up my studio and be demonstrating most of each day. We will have refreshments and beverages on offer. We had a great time last year and I am looking forward to doing it again. I hope you all can come out and say hello and take a look at some of my new creations. Speaking of which... I made a beautiful blue Friday egg with orange poppies and peacocks. I started with a white egg and measured out a figure-eight design to frame the poppies in the inner circles and create frames for the peacocks out of the outside of the circular shapes. The orange is a little less intense than I would have liked, but I still like it with the cobalt blue background. Peacock with blue tailfeathers Traditional Rose or Star Pattern next to garland Pretty orange poppy. I always call the orange ones California poppies. Is that right? Scarlet flower detail Peacock is ready for his close-up. Red, green and blue garland Red initials on the bottom of the egg. Happy Friday!

The only way to get better at art is the work at it. The Draw This Again drawing challenge is a perfect example of how hard work can produce great art.

Big white flowers stand out against a black background. Fits any decor. Made to Order and Custom Orders are welcomed. PLEASE contact me BEFORE you purchase a Made to Order egg. I will make the pysanky and send you photos for approval. If you approve, you may purchase the egg at that time. You are under no obligation. CUSTOM Orders require a 50% deposit. Balance due before shipping. The ancient art of Ukrainian egg decorating is called Pysanka (Pis-an-ka). A design is drawn on a raw egg with melted bees wax using a kistka (wax stylist). The egg is put in a special dye bath. When the desired color is achieved, the egg is removed and dried. Additional designs may be drawn on the egg. Bees wax protects the color during subsequent dye baths. This process is repeated until the design is finished. The design alone may take many hours. The wax is removed and the beautiful design is revealed. Several coats of polyurethane are applied to protect the color and strengthen the shell. A hole is drilled into the shell and the egg is removed. When the shell is completely dry inside, the hole is covered with bees wax or a finding for hanging. It takes several days to create a beautiful Pysanka. Thank you for visiting my shop!
