This study for Acts is by the chapter, instead of by the people or events. Each chapter will have an in-depth lesson, new worksheets, etc. Here are a couple of printables that can be used with this series or on their own. They were designed to be simple and easy on the printer ink. These are not included in the lesson and application packs. Most of these are full page resources that are perfect for notebooks; but you can print two per page on your printer settings to create half pages which are great for interactive notebooks. Click here to see more about interactive notebooks and how to design them. Updated Anchor Charts for each chapter. Updated worksheets with key pictures and a space to write main points for each event. Updated Snapshot worksheets with pictures for each chapter and a space to write notes. There is a set of alphabet code worksheets in each application pack. One worksheet uses symbols. The student will use the first letter of the picture to figure out the code. The codes are a paraphrased verse from the chapter being studied. They are paraphrased due to space on the worksheet and there some chapters have more than one included. Another worksheet has a number, and the student will locate it on the chart at the top of the worksheet and write the corresponding letter in the space to complete the coded worksheet. This chart can be saved as a reference and is not included in the application pack. The answer for each code worksheet is on the last page with the copyright information. Note: Although there are not any direct quotes from these reference books, they were used to clarify some of my questions. And these are great books to have and use! Neither God nor Samuel were happy that the people had asked Samuel to give them a king, but God told Samuel to do as they had requested. God then led Samuel to Saul and instructed Samuel to anoint him as the new king. This began Israel’s long and often sinful monarchy. These printable Bible activities are about this sad turning point in Israel’s history.
Bible ABC's: Y is for Youngest Jacob (& Esau) These lessons can be used without the alphabet theme. Consider these an update with new ideas and printables! So... I kinda went rogue and as I was writing the lesson! I couldn't stop because it seemed like chapters 25-28 all flow together. Each section is short, but is usually divided... especially for younger students. Although this contains the stew trade, the blessing switch and Jacob's ladder dream, they can be divided by chapter. Or, taught as one lesson. The Fact Wheel briefly reviews their birth, the stew trade and the birthright event. Color and black & white are included. These can be used for Jacob and any other appropriate lesson and were kept plain intentionally for this purpose. These are a reminder that God is there for us. Students can color or paint the designs on the banner, door hanger and bookmark. Stickers can be added. String or ribbon can be added to the banner to hang and on the bookmark. A Word Search for chapters 25-28 is included. A stew maze, dot-to-dot and a puzzle are included. The puzzle has been updated with the stew food and standups. Click here to download this file with these updates only. The first is a Reader Worksheet and is divided into the three sections by chapter. This can be used as one worksheet, or review, or if you are dividing the lesson, each section can be used as needed. The wording from the scripture is as easy to read as possible with sight words while keeping to the key points with easy to answer questions. The second is a fill-in-the-blank worksheet. This is sectioned by the number. Black & white only. I designed the Trip Strip to be a cut & glue timeline. This one shown has lines for the students to write about each event. Click here to see a free video on how to make and use Interactive Notebooks. There is a set of 5 and 10 piece puzzles. I added this Flip Book because the students love them, and the foldable book below does not include Jacob's dream in chapter 28. It includes the color and black & white. Bible games for teens are a good way to incorporate bible teachings into their life. Here is our list of the best Bible activities you may use for your teens.
This lesson combines both Peter's Vision he had on the rooftop and continues with Peter traveling to see Cornelius and teaching him about Jesus. Today we are studying about Cornelius found in Acts 10:1-48. He lived in Caesarea and was a centurion (captain of 100 men) of the Italian Regiment (military). He was faithful and feared God. He gladly gave gifts to the poor and he prayed a lot. About three in the afternoon an angel of God came to him and said, “Cornelius.” He was scared when he saw the angel! The angel told him that God has heard his prayers. The angel told him to "Send for Simon Peter, and he will tell you what to do." The angel left and Cornelius told two servants and a soldier to go to Joppa to get Simon Peter. It was a 10-hour trip. The next day, at about noon, Peter went to the housetop to pray. He was very hungry, and he fell into a trance. He saw the heavens open up and something like a huge sheet tied by its four corners come to earth. It had all different kinds of animals, reptiles and birds on it. Peter wondered what that meant. This happened three times, and then went back up into heaven. (Acts 10:16) While he was thinking about it, the three men sent by Cornelius asked if Peter was there. Peter went down and told them that he was the Peter they were looking for. After they explained why Cornelius sent them, Peter invited them into his house. Peter got up in the morning and prepared to travel with Cornelius’ men. Peter took six Jewish believers along with him (Acts 11:12) on this journey. They split the traveling into a two-day journey from Joppa to Caesarea. When they went into the house, all the people that Cornelius had invited were there to greet Peter. (Acts 10:34) God sent Peter to teach Cornelius and his family. Peter told them that God doesn’t show favoritism. Everyone is treated the same in every nation that fears Him and is faithful to Him. He told them about Jesus and how He died. He said that we are commanded to preach to all people so all can go to Heaven. The thing was that at any other time, Peter and Cornelius wouldn’t be seen together, especially talking to each other because it was unlawful for a Jewish man to associate with someone from another country. (Acts 10:28) But when the people that were at the house of Cornelius heard what Peter had to say, they believed. The last verse (Acts 10:48) says that Peter told them to be baptized in the name of the Lord and then they asked Peter to stay for a few days with them. These updated Roman Centurion posters can be used for any lesson with a centurion. The last poster is Cornelius. These are in color only. Click here to download. This is my visual for this week. The 'sheet tied by the 4 corners' is hanging from the ceiling. I used fishing line to hang it. There are 2 dowel rods that the sheet is tied to keep it from sagging, and the fishing line is tied around the dowel rods. Peter's housetop is a piece of plywood on dowel rod legs. White fabric (that won't fray) cut into 12" large squares. This is about what I cut them. It depends on the fabric, and I just cut them to get the least amount of waste. In the picture, you see I used a white felt, and cut the squares into 18-inch pieces. (Picture 1) Cut two 40" lengths of fishing line, and tie to the opposite corners of the 'sheet'. (Picture 2) I pulled the fishing line up in the center of both pieces and made a loop to gather them. You can give the kids a dowel rod to hang it on to make it go up and down easier. The students will add any animals you hand out and take home their animals they brought. (I sent a note home with them last week and sent email reminders during the week) They can raise and lower the sheet like the vision. Click here to print the note from last week. You can print the left clean vs. unclean worksheet by clicking here. The chart on the right is an updated chart of clean and unclean animals. It is a very basic list with animals that are in the Bible or easily recognized animals. It is not intended to be an in-depth list. This includes the color and black & white. Click here to download. These posters are more of a teacher's visual when discussing clean and unclean and were used with the above student handout chart of clean and unclean animals. Remember, this is intended for early elementary and is not an in-depth adult study on the laws God made for clean and unclean. There is a very basic outline that can be used with the posters and this lesson. Click here to download. This Bible lesson has so many good points that can be discussed. One point that Luke keeps making in Acts is that when people hear the Gospel, they believe in Jesus and immediately are baptized. Another is that Jesus loves everyone and salvation is for everyone. Since those points are made repeatedly in the following lessons, I took this time to talk about some of the old laws from the Old Testament, and some of the new laws that came into effect when Jesus died on the cross. We discussed the old law of sacrificing animals, and we are very thankful we don't have to do that! But, the new law includes baptism. We still worship, but the old law was on the Sabbath, being Saturday. Exodus 31:16 And, the new law on the first day of the week, being Sunday. (Acts 20:7) We mostly talked about clean and unclean food. The food choices were part of the new laws. I had a bigger table and more animals, but this will give you an idea of what I did. I gathered up animals, even my granddaughters Fisher Price ones, and the kids looked at their charts and we put the animal with the correct tag. You can print the clean and unclean tags here. These hanging monkeys and the snakes are from Dollar Tree. They LOVE the monkeys! I hang them on my arms and let them pick their color. But, the object is to discuss the clean vs. unclean according to God. These rats and bats are only sold around October. The first packs are at Wal Mart, the second ones in the mesh bags are at Dollar Tree. They love those, because they glow in the dark! You can also use the black birds (ravens for Elijah) from Dollar Tree for several Bible lessons, and this is one of the lessons! Click here to download. You can find all the Acts worksheets here. Paul teaches Lydia about Jesus. We learned about the purple fabric that Lydia made and why it was so important and expensive. Click here to download these updated posters. Review: We learned last week that Barnabas decided to take Mark and go a different direction to preach about Jesus. Paul took Silas and Timothy to travel to other churches and preach about Jesus. Remember, Timothy was younger, about 15 or 16 and his mother and Grandma taught him the Old Testament. Paul taught him about Jesus. Paul had a vision one night. The man in the vision begged Paul to come to help them in Macedonia, so they left for Macedonia the next day. Click here to download Luke Poster. Then, Luke started traveling with Paul also. Read Acts 16:8 & 10. So, we also learned last week that when Luke is traveling with Paul, the Bible says we and us, but when Luke is not with Paul, Luke says them. Remember, we are studying from Acts and Luke wrote it. There are several photos of today's view of Neapolis and Philippi. These photos, and more are @ http://www.padfield.com/photoindex.html and are used with permission by David Padfield. Philippi felt banner change for the tent and prison for next week Lesson: Scripture is Acts 16:12-15. Now, Paul has Silas, Timothy & Luke traveling with him. They traveled 10 miles to Philippi. The Roman roads were paved here, and there are still parts of them there now! They had been in Philippi, which is in Macedonia, for some days. On the Sabbath day, they went out of the city gate to the riverside. People gathered together there to pray. The city of Philippi didn't have enough Jewish men to have a synagogue, so the people went to the river to worship. It was mostly women worshipping there. They would pray, study the Old Testament laws from scrolls and talk about what they had read. This would have been a great privilege to have a man there to teach them. After they had sat down, they talked to a woman they had met there. One of the women that was there worshipping was named Lydia. She already believed in God and didn't worship idols. She sold purple fabric. Let's talk a little bit about how she made the purple fabric, and why it was so expensive. I have cut pieces of purple cloth and shells on the front table for the kids to pick up when they come in to class. They do their passports and pick up whatever I have for them so there is not time wasted handing out things. And, if there are choices, like the shells, they can pick before class. And, first come, first picking! Purple cloth was very expensive. The reason it was so costly was that it was difficult to make. The dye for the cloth came from a shellfish. Purple dye had to be gathered drop by drop from the veins of certain shellfish found only in this area of the Mediterranean. The little bit of juice was white while it was in the veins of the fish, but when it was exposed to the sun, the liquid changed into bright purple and red colors. It took thousands of seashells to make a yard or two of purple cloth. It took a lot of work to catch enough shellfish to dye even one garment. It was a statement of status, power, and wealth in Roman times. The beautiful cloth was mainly used by members of the royal families and Roman senators who were required to have a purple band around the edge of their togas, or robes. (This info gathered over years of research, and I do not know exact origins.) Lydia listened to Paul. Lydia and her household were baptized, immediately, and then she begged Paul, Silas, Timothy and Luke to go to her house to stay. This worksheet is a concept chart. As you are reading through Acts 16:11-15 with the students, they can fill in the facts that are stated. This includes the color (w/o logos), black & white and a teacher's answer sheet. Click here to download. When I make these, I use the Accucut diecut machine to cut the (large) shells for the outside. But, I have included the outside, as you can see, and the inside. Once I glued the outside on, I trimmed a little of the inside so it would look nicer, but that is just me. Because, actually, the kids will be cutting and gluing these, so I won't be trimming theirs. Here is the color printable. Here is the black and white printable. Please note, though, that I used the same cream shell for the inside because I couldn't find a plain outline of a shell to use, and you couldn't see anything if I used what is available. You can print in grayscale if you want to. Click here to download. Click here to download the lesson. Bible Verse: Acts 16:14 Click here to download these visuals. Not all are shown. Parables are a wonderful way to teach children biblical truths in a story format they will understand. We use them in our everyday teachings with "morals of the story" already, so many children are familiar with the parable concept and format. As I began prepping to teach my children some of the parable stories, I realized I wanted more resources. Today I am sharing with you those I have gathered for a handful of the parables in the Bible.
I love teaching bible lessons, whether at home or at church. The stories of Moses are some of my favorite because he teaches our little ones so many great things. I have to say, the Moses bible crafts are so enjoyable for little learners, and they are great reminders of the stories at home. Baby

This lesson is intended for preschool, but there are new printables here that could be used for early elementary also. Saul was not nice to the Christians. Saul was also called Paul and he grew up in Tarsus. He was a Jewish leader and was very smart. He was glad to see people being put in prison because they believed in Jesus. Saul was still following the Old Testament rules. Saul was in Jerusalem, and he went to the high priest. He wanted permission to bring back anyone that was teaching about Jesus. He wanted to make sure the Christians were in prison. Saul went from Jerusalem to Damascus. It would take Saul and the other men with him several days to arrive in Damascus. It was close to noon, and they were close to Damascus, when suddenly a light came shining around Saul from heaven. The light was brighter than the normal afternoon sun. Saul fell to the ground and Jesus said to him: “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” Saul asked, “Who are you, Lord?” And the Lord answered, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.” Saul was shaking! He was amazed and asked, “What do you want me to do?” He was told to get up and go into the city and then he would be told what to do. The men that were traveling with Saul just stood there speechless! They heard someone talking but couldn’t see anyone! Saul stood up and opened his eyes, but he couldn’t see anything. The other men led him by the hand and took him to Damascus. He was there for three days. He couldn’t see and he didn’t eat or drink anything. Saul did a lot of praying. He had some time to think about what he had been doing. There was a disciple named Ananias in Damascus and the Lord came to him and told Ananias to find Saul of Tarsus on Straight Street. He is praying and waiting for you to come. Ananias replied that he has heard of Saul of Tarsus! He is putting Christians in prison. Jesus told Ananias that He has picked Saul to tell others about Him. Ananias did what Jesus told him to. He went to see Saul. He laid his hands on Saul and told him that Jesus appeared to him on the road to Damascus and sent me to give your sight back to you. Immediately something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes and he could see. Saul immediately stood up and went to be baptized. Scripture for this lesson is Acts 8:3; 9:1-19. I knew I needed to make a map for this lesson, since the kids love them. The stand-ups are great to use for review also.
