Here is the house I saw from across the field (in the next picture) on US 6, south of Stryker, Ohio. Just to the North is a doublewide where the owner lived. I asked him if he was interested in selling the place and he said it would be torn down eventually. He wanted to use the bricks for a sidewalk and a friend would take the slate. I pointed out that it was soft brick and wouldn't stand up to freezing in contact with the ground. He seemed indifferent when I offered to send him pictures. He said that the place had been cold in the winter. I asked if the plaster was applied directly to the inside layer of brick, not allowing for any kind of insulation. He laughed and said yes, that was the case. I did send him pictures and visited the place four more times on my trips, and then it was gone.

I used the Yellow Brick Road pattern to create a quilt for our school's silent auction. I won a set of fat quarters about a year ago (and I can't remember where from and it's bothering me.) It was fun to make a quilt with such an easy and familiar pattern (this is at least the fourth time making it.) The fabric was wonderful to work with, very satiny. I backed it in a teal flannel. The quilt didn't sell for very much. I'm not making a quilt again for an auction. Ever. Friends, remind me of this okay?
