Local Portland bartender Natasha Mesa was the first one to bring this style to our attention. While participating in a cocktail competition in Germany, she stumbled across one. I have a non-smoking home with one dog who is not interested in sewing. I have no way of knowing what home environment a specific pattern has come from. Director Mary Harron's stunning debut Feature, "I Shot Andy Warhol" is the story of the troubled Valerie Solanas. Valerie was a 60s East Village radical who penned a manifesto titled: "S.C.U.M" which espoused hatred toward men. With her friend Candy Darling (Stephen Dorff), Valerie (Lily Taylor) comes to New York to meet Andy Warhol. Andy (Jared Harris) has her appear in a couple of movies but soon becomes disinterested as was his way. Over time, Valerie believes Andy has too much power over her life and decides to become famous by shooting him. Valerie was convicted, sent to a mental hospital, and died homeless of pneumonia but her Manifesto is now published all over the world. This film has been celebrated around the globe. First as "Winner for Best Art Direction" at The Gijon Film Festival, then a "Best Actress" award for Lili Taylor at the Seattle Film Festival, and The Stockholm Film Festival. Cinematographer Ellen Kuras's work here is exceptional as well. Mary Harron co-wrote and directed a rich script and got fantastic performances from everybody involved.
