Jesus Name Network - The issue that I commonly see within Christianity is a fervent rebuke of something with absolutely no love behind it. Let me be clear, I am not saying that Christians should not rebuke and stand against sin. I'm saying the opposite. Let's take a look at the Old Testament prophets. Jeremiah WEPT for Judah. He could often be found in great sorrow for his people because of God's judgment on Judah for their sins. Yet, he still prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem and denounced the sins committed within Judah. Isaiah can be often found as proclaiming judgment, but he always had a message that if Judah turned back to God that God would accept them. For all this His hand is still outstretched. Those are just two examples of godly rebuke and denouncement of sin. There are plenty of other examples that could be given, but time and length do not allow for me to tell. If you denounce sin and rebuke ungodliness without any sense of pain or love for the person, you're wrong. That's not godly. Sin is sin, but there is always a process that God laid out within His Word to effectively and correctly rebuke and denounce sin. -DM
