I don't particularly like standard fair rules posters. I find that they add to the perception that the teacher is an enforcer. I absolutely do not want that attitude in my classroom. I want to be a partner with my students. We have the same goal in mind, after all: their learning! Rather than posting a list of rules for students to follow, I'd like to post something designed to inspire them to become better students. This is an "I [verb]" poster to emphasize student agency in the classroom. I want my students to develop habits of communication, time management, materials management, self-awareness, leadership, and respect. This poster can help you train students to grow in maturity, especially if you refer to it to celebrate successes and reiterate expectations. The best part: these rules of conduct will serve your students well in and out of the classroom. Visit my website at www.penspupilspedagogues.com!
