This sourdough pizza dough is naturally leavened and made with a combination of Type "00" flour and high-protein bread flour. It produces a delightfully chewy and crisp, yet tender crust with that signature sourdough tang. This recipe yields three (10-inch) pizzas, but can easily be doubled. The dough can be prepared up to 24 hours in advance, see the recipe notes below for more detailed make-ahead instructions. Below the pizza dough recipe you'll find my go-to formula for a classic Margherita-style pizza using our favorite homemade pizza sauce. It will become an instant favorite. Feel free to use this recipe as a base and mix up the toppings as desired.
Inspired by Stella Parks, this quiche crust recipe relies on a single extended pre-bake, often known as a blind bake. This genius method eliminates the need to dock the dough or juggle two separate baking periods. The outcome? An exceptionally flaky, sturdy crust that holds its shape and won’t shrink or puff up. Here’s the good news – you can prepare the dough using a variety of methods. I’ve found that rolling the butter into the flour produces a supremely flaky crust and provides a bit more control. However, I've outlined alternate methods in the note section. Feel free to experiment based on preference or available equipment. While this article is tailored for homemade quiche, such as this Gruyère Leek Quiche, feel free to apply this recipe and technique to any savory pie of choice.
Sometimes the easy and classic preschool crafts are the best. Today I'm sharing a super easy paper plate craft for all reptile-loving kids. We're crafting some beautiful paper plate snakes! Watercolor Paper Plate Snakes This post contains affiliate links. Thank you for your support! This weekend our preschool is holding its annual fall fundraiser. We're serving all-you-can-eat pancakes (yum!), offering face painting, showing a whole bunch of reptiles, and making these fun paper plate snake crafts. I made a couple with my son a couple of days ago just to try the craft out. It was a complete hit! So I'm excited to make them with other kids this Saturday. Here's what we did! First, I cut out the snake shapes from paper plates. (It was super simple swirl!) Then, we drew "secret designs" with white crayon. (He loved doing this part.) And then we painted them with these paints to reveal our secret snake designs. (We love our liquid watercolors, but we also love using these really affordable watercolor cakes too!) Of course, we also added googly eyes too! Once the paint dried, we added finishing touches with glitter glue. (I bought a huge bottle of gold glitter glue from Michaels. But you could also get glitter glue from Amazon too.) My son really enjoyed smearing the sparkles everywhere with a paint brush. (FYI- Glitter glue will smear your liquid watercolors. But we didn't mind too much. Also, glitter glue tends to muck up brushes. So, I have several brushes that are dedicated "glue brushes" so we don't ruin our nice watercolor ones.) I think the kids on Saturday are going to have a blast making these snakes! 4 More Colorful Paper Plate Art Projects: If you love colorful paper plate projects, you'll love these other awesome ideas: Doughnut and Watermelon Paper Plate Purses Paper Plate Toucans Gorgeous 3D Paper Plate Flowers Paper Plate Dragons Even More Creative Paper Plate Crafts! Today I'm sharing another beautiful and easy paper plate craft. These paper plate birds are simply gorgeous. They are also a great art and craft project to make with kids of all ages! Paper Plate Bird Craft This post contains affiliate links. Thank you for your support! I hosted a play date with 5 other children this past summer and wanted to give them a small art activity to do. The kids' ages ranged from 18 months - 4 years old, so the activity had to be simple to set up and easy for all the kids to do. That's when I came up with these paper plate birds! The kids really enjoyed painting them and the activity was so easy to set up the night before. Everyone took home their birds. But we enjoyed the activity so much that we recently painted birds again as a family. Here's how we made these lovely paper plate birds! Let's Make some Paper Plate Birds! First, I folded a paper plate in half. I traced out half a bird shape. Then, I folded the wings over and stapled the bottom of the bird closed. Here's what the bird looked like when opened: To get these super vibrant colors, we used our favorite liquid watercolors. Prior to painting some of the birds, we also drew designs on them with yellow and white crayons. These designs were "revealed" when we painted over the birds. My husband saw how much fun we were having that he had to join in too! Here are some birds that he and I painted alongside our son. These coffee filter butterflies are such a classic craft! I love how easy they are to make and how the bright colours of the Mr. Sketch markers blend together to make gorgeous looking butterfly wings! (Don't worry, you can use regular washable markers too). The start of spring and the windy weather we have been having always makes me think of Kites. We don’t usually have much luck when we try to fly our own kites, but we have had fun crafting some very pretty ones. When Emily was little we make a Triangle Shape Kite, but this time we tried something a little different. To make our kites we used Bleeding Tissue Paper, cardstock, straws, yarn and some colored construction paper. The girls always love working with bleeding tissue paper, it has a somewhat magical property to it which is always fun. If you have never tired it before we definitely recommend it. First, I cut out cardstock in the shape of a Kite and then Juliette got to work with the bleeding tissue paper. She covered the paper with a little bit of water then placed the pieces of bleeding tissue paper over the water. They like to brush over them with a little more water to make sure they are sticking down to the paper well. Once the paper is covered to satisfaction we just set them to the side and let them dry. Now for the fun part, Juliette pulled off all of the bleeder paper to see the beautiful colored design that was left behind…MAGIC!!! To put the kites together we cut pieces of colored straws to glue horizontally and vertically across the kite. Then we glued on a long piece of yarn and construction paper bows for the tail. Juliette was very excited to help me glue it together with the glue gun. Since we have had a hard time gluing straws to paper in the past I figured this would be the best way.
