This item features a 29 x 52 cm. (11.5 x 20.5 in.) decorative pillowcase made with traditional Betawi-style Batik from Java, Indonesia. Batik is one of my favorite cultural aspects of my family's heritage. Practiced for centuries, it's the Indonesian technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth to create beautiful patterns. This particular item is screen-printed batik on 100% cotton, which is more accessible as wax-resist dyeing is time-consuming and a costly process. ***PILLOW NOT INCLUDED*** The back of the cover is green with zip enclosure on the side. The pillowcase works best with down feather pillows (see photos) although not necessary! It should fit any standard 12x20 inch pillow. I try my best to showcase the true colors by photographing with natural light. But due to the variation of your screen settings, they might appear slightly different. This batik is influenced by Dutch and Chinese in the motifs, as dragon and flowers. The other characteristic of batik is the attractive bright color. The style is called Kedungwuni. The motif is flowers bouquet. This batik features peonies flowers. The colors are dark green, off white (as background), light blue, white and green (as motifs). Conditions: It has tiny holes, and stitch patches due to storage as seen in picture (you may ask for more detailed pictures just send us a message). A handdrawn batik is produced through labourious work, started from hand sketching, applying wax painting on each dots and strokes to resist coloring, and accordingly successive coloring processes. Each piece can take up from 1-4 months of work depending on the complexity and sophistication of the motif.
