Well Hello and Happy Friday! Thank God for this long weekend right? My kiddo's are super excited to have 3 days off, and so is Mama! Anyway, today... I wanted to show you a little hack I have been doing for a while around my house. It's so super cheap too! I've been making my own foam soap that smells just as good as the real stuff (Bath and Body). At $6.50 a bottle that can really add up. The way I am going to show you, it will only cost 33 cents per bottle. Heck ya, that's a huge difference. So lets begin. If you don't already have some foaming soap bottles, then you can buy these at a dollar store. The soap however that comes in it is almost scentless. It way to cheap. But the bottle will come in handy so save it. Then while you're out get some Suave fruit scented shampoos, like these. They will run you about $1 to $1.50 depending on the size. But the $1.50 ones will have more ounces, so you're only paying more for more shampoo, not less. Then fill about 2/3 of the bottle with shampoo. Then fill 3/4 of the bottle with water. Get a lovely assistant to shake them up for you. Once the bubbles have settled, add a just a little more shampoo to top it off and shake it up again. And now I have yummy fruity smelling foam soap, for pennies. Sshh don't tell my guests. I put this recipe back into the B&B bottles and they really never know the difference! Also if the fruit smelling ones aren't your thing, they have plenty of scents to choose from. And Look out for these flavors for the holidays... Thanks so much for tuning in! Until Next Time...

I have a bit of obsession with refilling Bath & Body Works foaming soaps. I love finding less expensive soaps and body washes to use when they run out that kind of match the original scents. You may have noticed that antibacterial soap is no more -- here is an article from the FDA explaining why good old plain soap and water is better. So you can use any liquid soap or bodywash and feel good that they will give you the same results if you wash with warm water for 20 seconds. All you need: * an old toothbrush * warm water * your choice of body wash or soap to refill * a foaming soap dispenser (I always get the ones from Bath and Body works and choose scents that work well with refills) Since we're heading into summer I chose a sweet mango body wash (from the Dollar Tree!) but I also love the scents from the Smartly line at Target. If you need more moisturizing you can definitely choose a more expensive body wash or hand soap. 1. Take the empty foaming soap bottle and fill it about 1/4 - 1/3 of the way with soap/bodywash. 2. Next, fill it to the top with WARM/HOT water. This will help it blend together -- cold water seems to make it separate. 3. Using the handle of the toothbrush stir together until well mixed. Don't shake! This does weird things to the dispenser. 4. Before putting the dispenser head back on, give it a good scrub with your cleaning toothbrush and hot water. It seems to collect dirt and grime with all of the use. 5. Put the lid back on and enjoy foaming goodness! This saves lots of money as it takes only 1/3 of a normal soap refill. As I said, it's fun to keep your eye open for seasonal scents to refill as well: Happy refilling! To pin for later:

I love a man who's not afraid to get his hands dirty. ♥ Many of you know that my husband, Doug, is a painting contractor. Let me tell you, his hands get dirty during the course of his day. Doug's paint sprayer sprung a leak the other day and he came home with [more] paint on his hands [than usual]. I handed him a tube of my apricot face scrub and it did the trick, but I'm not supposed to tell anyone that he used a girlie product. I was inspired by an idea I saw here for this easy sugar scrub and I couldn't wait to make a manly version for Doug. I've had this juniper scented body wash for the longest time {Carrie, I think it was yours...} and decided to use it to make the scrub. I just combined it with sugar, stirred it up, and it was done. I really liked this recipe because it's the first I've seen that didn't call for some sort of oil to be added. Oil can make for a very slippery shower/bath tub floor. Some things to note about this process: * I found it difficult to stir this stuff in the jar, so I ended up dumping the whole thing into a bowl to mix it. * You need way more sugar than soap. It seemed like it wasn't going to combine well, but the longer I stirred the better it got. * I used this plastic flip-top container {See? I knew there was a good reason to save it for all this time!} because he'll use this in the shower and I didn't want a breakable jar. * I used soap I had on hand, but next time I'll probably invest in a more masculine scent. * This would be a great gift-idea for crafting friends who end up with lots of glue and paint on their hands - tied up in a pretty jar... The possibilities are endless! Lastly, I labeled it so there would be no question about it being manly. ♦ ♦ ♦
