We stumbled upon a great find today when we were learning about electric circuits. The University of Colorado in Boulder has a great website chock full of interactive science simulations. They are simple to download and use. Here is the one we discovered today: You will find different simu

DC systems are great for moving bulk power at really high voltages. They are just not feasible for power distribution, however. AC systems provide easy means to deliver power to remote users from remote generating stations. A mix of both technologies is viable for the future power system.

Assalamualaikum & Salam Sejahtera. Merhaba herkese! This week we start with greetings using Turkish language. Now, without further ado let's gather all our force to proceed to this week blog. This week we are not entering the Electronic Workshop. Instead, we are having a talk inside the MJIIT bulding. This week, we are introduced to a new program which is Bioelectronics. The speaker are none other than the person who expert in this field : Dr Azran Azhim. Dr Azran picture: As usual, before start the talk, the speaker will explain briefly about himself. First of all Dr Azran introduced his name. Then he told us that he has reside in Japan about 15 years. All his certificate which is from the stage of Diploma, Bachelor, Master, & PhD are from Japan. Plus, he also has work in Japan for 5 years. Such a great man. I hope I can achieve success just like him or more than him. The talk started next. Dr Azran begin his talk with bioelctronics definition. Biolectronics is defined as a recently coined term for a field of research that works to establish a synergy between electronics and biology. Then, Dr Azran ask us if we know about basic electronics such as its calculation & formulas, components symbols, & resistor colour code. Example of basic calculations & formulas : Example of basic components symbols : Resistor colour code : Dr Azran then continue with direct current(DC) cut which is it does not allow DC current to enter the circuit. Next Dr Azran explain about impedance(Z). Impedance is the measure of the opposition that a circuit presents to the passage of a current when a voltage is applied. In quantitative terms, it is the complex ratio of the voltage to the current in an alternating current(AC) circuit. Impedance graphical representation: Impedance in Ohm's law : V = IZ Afterward, Dr Azran told us about series & parallel cicuit. Here's the quick review about them : In series circuit : the current through each of the components is the same, and the voltage across the circuit is the sum of the voltages across each component In parallel circuit : the voltage across each of the components is the same, and the total current is the sum of the currents through each component. Next, Dr Azran told us about voltage divider. Voltage divider is a linear circuit that produces an output voltage (Vout) that is a fraction of its input voltage (Vin). Formulas involved : Now the story is getting more detailed. Next, we are introduced with low-pass filter & high-pass filter in the RC circuit. A low-pass filter is an electronic filter that passes low-frequency signals but attenuates (reduces the amplitude of) signals with frequencies higher than the cutoff frequency. A simple low-pass RC filter A high-pass filter (HPF) is an electronic filter that passes high-frequency signals but attenuates (reduces the amplitude of) signals with frequencies lower than the cutoff frequency. A passive, analog, first-order high-pass filter, realized by an RC circuit Formula involve: where fc is in hertz, τ is in seconds, R is in ohms, and C is in farads. Next stage, we forward to the transfer function. Actually, I'm not quite understand 'bout this part but I managed to jot down its formula. You can see the formula in the next picture : Afterwards, we were explained about active electronic realization(AER). The AER is a part from the low-pass filter. More precisely, the AER is an active low-pass filter. You can see in the figure below and its formula: In the operational amplifier circuit shown in the figure, the cutoff frequency (in hertz) is defined as Now, we forward to the example of bioelectronics. Dr Azran told us that we can measured blood velocity by using circuit. There's a diagram that I draw that y'all can see below: We can calculate the Vout1 & Vout2 by using trigonometric function: Then, we are showed about dopple signal discriminator, probe design, dopple effects, & blood velocity spectra. Here's a image of blood velocity spectra : Lastly, Dr Azran tell us a bit about molecular biology. In bioelectronic, Dr Azran also learn about molecular biology so he told us about cells & DNA that resides in human, animals, plant, etc. He also showed us several cell pictures & DNA structure video like: Cell staining: Eukaryotic cell : There's a video about DNA replication that I want to share with y'all. It's a great video but unfortunately, I have a little problem to upload the video. But no worry because I'll give you the link of the video. Y'all just click the link to watch the video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gW3qZF9cLIA Well, as we are against the clock, Dr Azran need to finished his talk. It was an exciting experience because we learn something new today. After Dr Azran say thank you to us for our cooperation to listen & take note any important points about his talk, we are given about 10-15 minutes break. I want to show y'all several picture that I shoot while Dr Azran give the talk : They were very focus when hearing the talk : Dr Azran is very enthusiastic in giving this talk : Let's continue then. After the break time is up, it was Dr Kamal's turn to talk. What Dr Kamal want to talk is about the group's assignment and its marks. He also showed tu us the paper that contain the details of the assignment. But before that, Dr Kamal ask us to check back this course schedule. Dr Kamal tell us that next week there will be another talk and also the place for our industrial visit has been confirmed. We will visit the Canon Opto Malaysia. Sure can't wait for that day to come cause I've never been there. Now then, back to the assignment explanation. Dr Kamal told us that for last year students, Dr Kamal ask them to make a power point presentation for their group's assignment. But this year Dr Kamal said he want to make a different project for us, the new students so that we have our own uniqueness. Hence, Dr Kamal decided that we should design & create a poster for our group's assignment. Dr Kamal has divided the group member according to each of our personal advisor(PA). Here's the picture of the group & its members : As y'all can see from the pictures above, my group was put under Industrial Automation area and my group's topic is about Computer Control System. At first, we are shocked because Dr Kamal has divided the group by his own but then he explained he divide the group according to our PA expertise field so that if we have any problem about the topic, not only we can ask Dr Kamal but we can ask our PA too. Dr Kamal also told us that we need to use an A1 size paper for the poster. Then Dr Kamal revealed to us the rubric for the poster marks as the picture below: Lastly, Dr Kamal told us that the deadline to submit the poster is 27 November 2012. If I'm not mistake, it's in the same week that we will have the industrial visit. Hence, all of us need to work hard to complete the poster in less than a month. Well then, this week blog is quite long. I hope you can feel the excitement when finish read this blog just like I feel when writing this blog. I put all my heart & feeling when writing this blog so that y'all, the reader will feel happy & exciting when read it. Alright then, that's all for this week. Wish y'all stay in a good health so that y'all can live y'all life happily. Yakında görüşürüz.
For analyzing DC circuits , generally we use different methods such as ohm’s law, network theorems and other circuit simplification tools. A DC circuit analysis is performed mainly to determine the unknown quantities such as voltage, current, resistance and power which are allied with one or more elements of an electronic circuit. As a basic […]
