When good intentions go horribly wrong.
The word "icon" has a number of different meanings today, from the symbols on your computer screen to celebrities, and, of course, visual representations of religious figures. Soasig Chamaillard repairs old statues of the Virgin Mary and in the process turns them into something distinctly different than their original appearance. Her mission isn't to mock Mary or the meaning she holds for many people, but rather to examine notions of the feminine and the role of women in society and culture. As some one who's sitting in front of a bunch of action figures that, to me, represent important figures, the juxtaposition of pop culture with culture culture, is something I always find fascinating.

Here is the tutorial for converting the unarticulated Fashionistas to articulated ones. For these photos I used a movie Wonder Woman doll’s forearms and calves. I find those work best proportionally with the slim Kens. A major shoutout to Phyllis ( www.flickr.com/photos/126338865@N04/ ) for the inspiration to try this. Her articulated curvy violinist is how this whole idea took shape. For curvy Barbies, the movie Wonder Woman dolls as well as the DC Super Hero Girls dolls both work well. The method for converting the curvy girls is the same as what I explain here. Just be sure to take your time and be patient and the joins will look nice. The rotary tool I use is Wen brand, I got it along with the extender and extra accessories off Amazon for about $35 USD. I have had it for about a year and it was well worth the investment. Also, be sure to wear protective gear when creating small dust particles. I use a respirator, but any face mask should do. I also wear glasses to protect my eyes, you just can’t be too careful! I hope that helps! If there are any questions, I will answer them the best I can.
