Not sure if I would call this Barbie and Ken's house or Hansel and Gretel's house.... lol. Actually there are a number of these brightly painted homes in Grimsby Beach....here is a little history on it. Grimsby Beach began life as a Methodist summer church camp. In the 1870s, the original tent accommodation began to be replaced by permanent board and batten cottages, trimmed with elaborate gingerbread or fretwork. The neighbourhood fell into disrepair after the Second World War, but was given a second chance to shine when new owners moved in over the past two decades. Today, the colourful cottages turned full-time homes frequently find themselves on historical walking tours. Grimsby is also the birthplace of a now forgotten Hollywood director, Del Lord. He rose to acclaim as the director of most of the Three Stooges short vaudeville comedies.
