Normalmente, los niños con TDAH son niños incomprendidos. Estos niños suelen ser tachados de vagos, de distraídos, torpes, por su falta de atención.
¿Qué adaptaciones en el aula pueden ayudar a los estudiantes que tienen el trastorno del procesamiento auditivo? Estas son estrategias que pueden usar los maestros.
Los niños y adolescentes con TDAH requieren adaptaciones curriculares de las técnicas de evaluación (que no de los criterios de evaluación) de muy fácil aplicación y coste cero que no afectan directamente a los elementos del currículo académico oficial. Esto se hace con el fin de responder adecuadamente a las necesidades educativas específicas que pueden presentar los alumnos con TDAH. Además, cuando a un alumno se le proporciona una instrucción de calidad y ayudas compensatorias adaptadas a sus necesidades es posible obtener un progreso satisfactorio en su rendimiento. Se debe estructurar y adaptar las pruebas de evaluación (exámenes, controles, etc.). Para ello es recomendable aplicar una serie de pautas como las siguientes: En el momento de la prueba de evaluación, conviene que el alumno esté sentado cerca del profesor y lejos de motivos de distracción. Dar instrucciones claras y sencillas. Se debe verificar que el escolar comprende lo expuesto por el profesorado antes y durante la prueba. Darle la oportunidad para que pregunte. Posibilidad de usar otros medios para realizar la prueba o presentar trabajos, haciendo uso de ordenadores, diagramas y dibujos si fuera necesario. Subrayar con rotuladores las palabras clave o instrucciones. Esto le ayudará a discriminar de una forma más eficiente la información relevante. Otras consideraciones que a tener en cuenta durante la evaluación es el hecho de que la atención mejora ante la realización de tareas novedosas (color frente a blanco/negro). Siempre que sea posible presentaremos los ejercicios a color. También se ha demostrado que el rendimiento mejora en los niños con TDAH cuando se da tiempo suplementario para tareas escritas o cuando se hace un borrador antes de entregar la prueba definitiva. En algunas Comunidades Autónomas existen protocolos de actuación con niños con TDAH en ambientes educativos donde se incluyen las adaptaciones pertinentes que han de realizarse. En esos protocolos se incluyen propuestas relacionadas con los aspectos evaluativos y la forma en la que se pueden realizar y ajustar los exámenes a las características de los alumnos con TDAH. Algunas de esas consideraciones son: El alumno con TDAH presenta dificultades para mantener la atención durante periodos de tiempo prolongados, por ejemplo el tiempo que dura una prueba de calificación. Por ello, y para mejorar el rendimiento en pruebas escritas, se favorecerá la realización de los mismos de forma oral o a través de ordenador. En cuanto a la duración de las pruebas escritas, se recomienda que se utilicen dos sesiones como mínimo y se establezcan tiempos máximos flexibles que permitan prolongar la duración del examen. Las preguntas de los exámenes se presentarán por escrito para evitar la lentitud de otros procedimientos como la copia o el dictado, con la inclusión de preguntas o ítems de un mismo tipo, para evitar así la mayor posibilidad de error o confusión derivados de una combinación de formas. Es conveniente dar a conocer las fechas de los exámenes con antelación. Se debe comprobar que el alumno ha registrado convenientemente las fechas y horarios de los mismos y que los tutores o familias reciben dicha información. Los exámenes o pruebas escritas finales o parciales no deberán ser los únicos instrumentos para evaluar a este alumnado; es necesario que la evaluación continua sea el procedimiento empleado, tal como lo recoge la normativa de evaluación en la enseñanza básica.
