The three dimensional beaded box opens in the middle with a beaded sliding hinge, to reveal a hollow space for a special treasure. The parakeet measures 1 ¾” high x 6” long x 1 ½” wide. The beaded parakeet is modelled after my own darling birds that I have loved so much. This design is worked in Peyote stitch using size 15/0 seed beads. The head is jointed. The wings are attached onto the body. This is an advanced project worked in separate sections and then joined together to complete the bird. A combination of color charts and written line by line instructions are included. 34 pages. "The Sea" is my fourth original beaded kaleidocycle design.The beaded kaleidocycle is worked in Peyote stitch using size 11/0 Delica beads. It is made using six beaded triangles of each of my four original designs, totaling 24 triangles. The finished kaleidocycle measures 2 ¾” across. The method for joining the triangles is easy and creates smooth working beaded hinges. I have patterns for four different kaleidocycles in my Etsy store. I like creating beaded toys. They are fun to make and to play with. The third ring is a sailboat on the water with a green hillside nearby. The rings are worked in cubic right angle weave with size 15/0 seed beads. I have designed two whimsical beaded pencil toppers, Uncle Sam and a sock monkey. They are worked in a combination of Peyote and brick stitch. They have dangling arms and legs that move as you write. Instructions are available on my website and on Etsy. My newest beaded toy is a beaded "Folding Cube" worked in cubic right angle weave. The cube turns and folds into different shapes and reveals different color patterns on the blocks. I've never been tempted to cosplay him 'til now, though; she is ADORABLE. (They both are!) Think I can pull off Number 5 as a brunette? :D - Here's my most popular Pinterest find this week: Silvey Shim made these cute little gift bags from a single sheet of 8.5X11 cardstock, and get this: there's NO CUTTING - only folding! Yep, Disney is planning to release a bunch of new shorts on the Disney channel featuring Mickey and the gang in traditional 2D animation, although the art style is really fresh and fun: This Yodeling clip (sorry I can't embed it!) made me laugh out loud, and I've watched it like four times in a row now. (Why yes, the show IS aimed at 4-10 year-olds. Why do you ask? ;)) Oh, and I like how this one finally points out that Mickey and Donald are only half-dressed: (Only the shoes, Goofy? Really? A Leprechaun Carousel Box (Notice the snow in the background. We had 10 inches of snow!) Happy St. Patrick's Day. What a day...it's my 12th snow day this school year. I think I have had enough of winter and I am ready for spring. I modified my carousel from a previous post to reflect today's holiday. I think the leprechaun is adorable with the pot of gold in his hand. When the carousel spins, he is going around in circles...exactly what you would expect of a little magic elf.
