We no longer have a pedigree breeding program here at Sirocco. If you are local, and looking for a quality pedigree texel as a foundation boar for your own stud, you can contact Ohana Cavy Stud (based on the northside of Brisbane, Qld, AUSTRALIA) as they have taken ownership of a number of our pigs *** SIROCCO AMETHYST 'Amethyst' was born on the 10th June 2012 to Walters Sebastian Bear and 'Isla' (daughter of Lavender Vale Tex and Glenjolie Savannah). She is silver agouti and white, with suspected roaning through her coat. ___________________________________ SIROCCO AMORE This little lady is 'Sirocco Amore' - pedigree texel sow. She was born to Hazelron Romeo and Sirocco Opal on the 10th March 2013. She is lilac/gold argente (lilac base, gold tips), gold and white - and a really pretty colour mix. She's just a young lady, but growing nicely. She is the full sister to our Sirocco Amadeus' (who can be seen in our boys page). __________________________ SIROCCO ARABELLA Arabella was born on the 26th June 2012 to 'Glenjolie Liam' and 'Robyn's Nest Giselle'. She was a single bub and born HUGE! (photo below shows her newborn photo, followed by her coat-progress at just 3months of age!) __________________________ 'BAMBI' Bambi was born on the 15th August 2012 as part of our 'curly sheba' program. We were attempting to produce a true-breeding variety of guinea pig that had the Sheba Mini Yak rosettes and hair-length, but with a curl rather then straight hair. Bambi and her sister 'Blessing' were pretty close to what we were looking for, but in using the texel lines to introduce the curly gene, the coats would grow too soft and fine, and we'd loose the lift required in the sheba breed. It is still a program that would have some merrit if you can find some good breeding stock to work with that you KNOW the background of - and if you know your genetics and understand the recessive/dominant gene thing. It will be a project that you will need to commit at least 4-5yrs to though, as breeding in a new variety, and using a foundation breed with recessive traits like the texel will require many generations to bring the lines back to 'true breeding' (and to get the breed looking significantly different to the already established 'alpaca' standard). (Newborn) (4 months old - the coat still had awesome lift at this stage) (7-month coat. Beautiful, but starting to droop under the weight now) __________________________ SIROCCO BITTERSWEET This pretty little girl was born to Sirocco Strawberry x Sirocco Amadeus on the 13th September 2013. The Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci's is said to be the best known, the most visited, the most written about, the most sung about work of art in the world. Nat King Cole crooned "Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa, men have named you, you're so like the lady with the mystic smile". And now this lovely Guinea Pig sits in the well-known pose smiling the best Mona Lisa smile a Guinea Pig can manage. Canvas prints look much like original portraits, making it possible to create a reasonably-priced posh and bold decor statement that says "I am most definitely an animal lover". The canvas is mounted on wooden stretchers with a profile of .75". The canvas that wraps around all four sides of the stretchers is a band of color that is complementary to the colors in the portrait. A hanging wire is included, so you'll have everything you need to hang this piece of art..... although these portraits are just begging for an over-the-top ornate frame! There comes a day in each pet's life when, out of nowhere, it hears its name called from the bathroom. Some pets can't hold their excitement to splash some soapy water, but let's be honest, most of them try to avoid bath time by any means necessary or stare straight into your soul, judging you for the worst betrayal in animal history.
