If you are searching for a story to help with this behavior then you know how challenging it can be to deal with in a classroom. This story is loosely based on a catchy “pants” song which I have included the link to. This simple book uses repeated language and rhythm to remind students to keep their hands out of their pants at school. Although I do not usually write social stories in a negative format, I think you will find the rhythm of this story will stick with students and help them to self-talk with appropriate reminders. This product can be viewed on an interactive white board or desktop computer. It can also be printed and made into a book. A page is included to teach students the appropriate time to touch themselves is in a private setting and not at school. This page could be easily removed for younger students if it is not appropriate. I would also be glad to customize the story if you teach an alternate replacement. This story can easily be read on a white board, computer, or tablet. It can also be printed as a class book or individual student book. This story comes with activity pages which: - Can easily be adapted into a full lesson plan - Can be used in group instruction - Can be used in discrete trial - Can be used as individual activities - Can be used as an assessment tool - Can be laminated for repeated practice Full color and black and white versions are included. Our Behaviors That Hurt social story book covers some common bad behaviors that children may display. As parents, caregivers, and teachers we know that children can sometimes struggle with their emotions and actions. They might bite, hit, or kick others when they feel upset or frustrated, which can be distressing for both the child and those around them. This is where our social story can help! It is a short social story that uses simple language and engaging illustrations to teach children about the impact of their actions and provides them with some calming techniques they can try when they feel frustrated or angry. Each page of the book targets a different behavior. The behaviors include biting, hitting, pushing, pinching, pulling hair, and kicking. Example: Hands are not for pushing. Ouch! Pushing hurts. Hands are for. . . writing, waving, hugging, snapping Page 8 - Review what you should never do & why. Page 9 - Provides nine calming techniques they can try to help them calm down. We have also included 24 picture cards that you can laminate and put on a ring to use as a visual reminder of bad behaviors and calming techniques. List of picture cards: no biting, no pulling hair, no hitting, no pinching, no pushing, no kicking, talk to someone, deep breaths, bounce on ball, squeeze ball, listen to music, count to 10, happy thoughts, take a walk, take a break, get a drink, write in journal, and read a book.
