When I got my first referral for a student with Apraxia of Speech, I cried. I had no idea how to help them. I was giving the CELF-4 yesterday and realized that although I like the Concepts & Following Directions subtest, there are not a lot of written materials out there that address some of the types of basic concepts on this subtest. Obviously you can do before/after directions with real life objects (jump up and down before you spin around), but I made this worksheet to work on before/after directions with pictures, which is what the CELF-4 is really testing. Are you looking for an informal language assessment that you can use with your late talkers and preschoolers with language delay? Would it be helpful to have an assessment form that can self-score and track the child’s progress? This Early Language Informal Assessment is ideal for informally assessing children’s language skills in your Speech and Language Therapy sessions. *** This Informal Early Language Assessment is also available in a money-saving bundle *** This informal Early Language Assessment comes with digital and printable versions, making it perfect for use in both teletherapy sessions and face-to-face sessions. Easily and quickly assess receptive and expressive language skills from single words to short phrases with this early language assessment. This informal language assessment also comes with three different data collection forms, so you can pick the version that is most convenient for you! There is a printable version that you can print and fill out. There is a digital editable version, which you can open in a PDF program such as Adobe Reader (free) and fill in on the computer (drop-down boxes make it easy to score the receptive section). Please note, this does not work on iPads. There is also a self-scoring Excel document that you can fill out on the computer. This version comes with drop-down boxes for receptive items, and is self-scoring, which makes scoring the assessment and monitoring the child’s progress a breeze! This informal assessment covers early language targets from one key word level up to three key word level (KWL). The Key Word Level (KWL) is based on the number of Information Carrying Words* in the instruction, i.e., the minimum number of words the child needs to understand in order to comprehend an utterance. It also relates to the target response that the child would be expected to produce (i.e., a one-word, two-word, or three-word utterance). Key Words and Information Carrying Words are the same; they are the words that hold meaning in the utterance. There are receptive and expressive targets for most of the stimulus items in the informal assessment. The following targets are included: 1 KWL includes- nouns (inc. animals, vehicles, clothing, food, furniture, and body parts), verbs, and prepositions (in, on, under, and out of). 2 KWL includes- phrases consisting of two key words with the following semantic structures**: subject + verb (“agent + action”), verb + object (“action + object” and “action + locative”), possessor + possession, as well as prepositions (in, on, under, out of, off), and concepts/attributes. 3 KWL includes- phrases consisting of three key words, including subject + verb + object phrases (“agent + action + object” and “agent + action + locative”), and prepositions (in, under, on, out of, off). Are you struggling to find meaningful (No PREP) resources to support your students when they are still learning to say their sounds in isolation? It can sometimes take forever, right? This simple print & go pack will motivate and engage your kids to keep practicing (while coloring, stamping, painting...) with cute pictures representing their core sound for ample opportunities to practice. WHEN TO USE: 1. Traditional Articulation approach: Use in practice when you are trying to elicit speech sounds. You may find that certain vowel sounds act in a facilitative context for the sound you are working on. 2. Phonological delays: If you are using a phonological approach and your child is NOT stimulable for one or more of the targets, these sheets can be used in pre-practice. 3. Childhood Apraxia of Speech: The vowel strips at the bottom of each worksheet can allow you to work at the syllable level using CV, VC, or VCV combinations. ⭐ Try it out with my FREEBIE Articulation in Isolation Worksheets Sample⭐ All main sounds are included, f, v, s, z, h, sh, th, k, g, p, b, t, d, l, r, y, w, m, n, j, and ch This resource can be used for syllable, word, or higher levels. You can easily adapt this and write syllables on each corresponding picture, or have a set word list next to you and get them to color in the pictures as a reinforcer. This is also great for your Apraxia kids, especially t the early stages of C, VC, and CV levels. This allows you to be flexible and creative and use this product for EVERY articulation student. ⭐ Read on the Blog some tips and tricks that I use when students seem to be stuck at this level.⭐ ========================================================= CONTENTS: ✅ -- Targets all major 21 sounds ✅ -- Contains 10 worksheets per sound (fitting 2 worksheets to a page to cut down on printing). ✅ -- Has a ginormous total of 208 individual and different black line worksheets (for a total of 104 usable pages). ✅ -- Has flexible use: color, stamp, cut, put counters on, use a dice...get creative. ✅ -- Easy to adapt and write syllables or words under each picture to get maximum use and increase complexity. ✅ -- Great for homework - do one half in therapy, one half at home. ========================================================= Explaining the worksheets: Each page has a picture that references the sound (in isolation) for example: "The bird is losing all of its colorful feathers. For every great ‘f’ sound, color in a feather." There are 20 pictures to color, so a minimum of 20 opportunities to practice the sound. You can always increase this by using dice or asking for 5 repetitions before they say the sound. Fitting two sheets to a page, it’s easy to do one set in therapy and one for homework... plus smaller pictures to color, which means that it's faster ;) What SLP's like you are saying: ❝ Brilliant idea to put two worksheets on a page. They're plenty big...❞ ❝ I like how there are multiple pages for each sound.❞ ❝ Working on sounds in isolation can be so tedious, so it's fun to have something to do.❞ Do you need FREE ❝100 Trials for Speech❞ no-prep worksheets?
