A beautiful modern art print from the Paper Collective collection. Crafted by handpicked creatives, curated in Copenhagen, made in Denmark. Located between the cooler mountains and suffocating desert heat of Monterrey in the north of Mexico, the studio of Berenice Hernandez takes inspiration from her surroundings to produce artwork with vibrancy and colour. With a background in art direction and graphic design, she combines her knowledge with subjects taken from her Mexican heritage. Botany contributes the focus of her work, brought to life through a mix of illustration, engraving, painting and textile techniques. The result is abstracted, bold plants and flowers, presented with a graphic touch. Want to add a frame? Stormy Palm contains a subtle sense of movement accentuated by the sparse blue backdrop. Bringing the form of the palm to the fore, red linework captures its essence as it moves in the breeze.
In our first session of the Summer Sketchbook Series, I shared ways to get past the fear of messing up your sketchbook with a few fun exercises to help get the ball rolling. I talked about negative space, the quiet areas in and around your subject, and bringing wholeness to your work.
As an exhibition of her early work opens at Guggenheim Bilbao, we explore the formative years and enduring legacy of Lygia Clark, the Modernist artist who broke down the barrier between art and life
Anonymouse is an anonymous group of artists who spread magic all throughout the streets of Sweden by building these adorable mini mouse-themed miniatures and displaying them in public. The first work of Anonymouse appeared in 2016 in the Swedish town of Malmö—it was a tiny little nut shop and an Italian restaurant. Since then, many other fascinating masterpieces have been born, from gas stations and shops to amusement parks and even castles.
De A is daar Alpha. (Of A-naam, zoals Anneke ;)) Mooie letter dus die A. Maar wie A zegt, moet ook B zeggen.
Throughout the Czech Republic, the Golem is recognized as a popular figure. Its clay form is represented through various statues, signs, and may even be spotted in the cobblestones of the city’s sidewalks. Many restaurants and business are named after or make reference to the mysterious creature. But what is the Golem and what are its origins?
