Ho cercato qualche idea a cui ispirarmi per creare mosaici con i bambini. Partiamo da ciò che abbiamo in casa.
L’action panting fu una tecnica inventata dagli espressionisti americani che prevedeva il dipingere in movimento. Per capire meglio, basta pensare ai quadri di Jackson Pollock, realizzati dall’artista in piedi sulla tela attraverso lo sgocciolamento dei pennelli, di qua e di là. Ai bambini affascina moltissimo questo concetto. Abbiamo quindi pensato di proporvi 6 attività artistiche “action”, ovvero delle tecniche creative in movimento, strane, pazze, bizzarre, che prevedono l’utilizzo di strumenti cinetici oppure del proprio corpo. Unica nota: se non volete sporcare tutto, utilizzare un bel tavolone adibito ai progetti artistici, oppure uscite in giardino! L’action art per bambini, ovvero Jackson Pollock completamente rivisitato: 6 attività artistiche movimentate, divertenti e davvero creative - Partiamo da un’action painting come si deve, fatta esattamente con il proprio corpo. Prendiamo dei fogli giganti e appiccichiamoli al muro con dello scotch, quindi infiliamo tra le dita dei piedi delle matite colorate o dei pennarelli. I bambini semplicemente dovranno cercare di dipingere con i propri piedi, prima cose astratte e poi (se vogliono) soggetti precisi, provando una sensazione nuova e una prospettiva completamente ribaltata! (Art Bar Blog) - Super carina è la pittura con il trapano. No, non è pericoloso, poiché al posto delle punte ci saranno dei pennelli. Basta infilarli nel foro adibito e stringere bene, poi intingerli nelle tempere o negli acquerelli e azionarli! (Artful Parent) - Con uno di quei taglieri girevoli che teniamo in tavola durante la cena per fare roteare le vivande possiamo creare dei disegni astratti bellissimi. Basta appoggiare il foglio al centro (fissandolo con del nastro adesivo di carta), rovesciare le tempere e colorare facendo girare forte il tagliere. Possiamo usare diversi mezzi: i pennelli, i cotton fioc, gli stuzzicadenti… (Hello Wonderful) - Le vecchie macchinine tornano utili! Non preoccupatevi, poi si lavano con acqua tranquillamente. Immergiamo le ruote nella tempera e lasciamo che i bambini disegno guidandole sul foglio. (Artful parent) - Dischetti di cotone e martello: questi gli strumenti per un’action art divertente e incredibile. Utilizziamo uno di quei martelli in gomma meno pericolosi di quelli pesantissimi in metallo (insegnando prima di tutto a maneggiarlo e a sentire il pericolo, come facciamo con le forbici). Dopodiché sistemiamo un foglio su un piano di lavoro, riempiamo il centro di un dischetto di cotone con del colore (le tempere vanno benissimo) e capovolgiamolo sul foglio. I bimbi dovranno spiaccicare i dischetti con il martello, facendo così esplodere le macchie di colore. (Crafty Morning) - Infine, l’arte con la scopa! Perché quando si tratta di creatività tutto può diventare uno strumento di lavoro, anche una vecchia scopa. Science meets art in these amazing Alexander Calder Art Projects for Kids! Play with lines, shapes and colors to make beautiful sculptures and paintings! "To an engineer, good enough means perfect. With an artist, there's no such thing as perfect." When you think of artists, we think of slightly eccentric souls, wandering along lakes or forests with their art materials, trying to capture that elusive sun beam or bloom. The last think you'd expect is an artist who's gone and studied something as practical as mechanical engineering! But that's Alexander Calder, American artist. He's not one to fit into any kind of mould, and his works of art aren't just hung up on a wall or standing on a pedestal - they actually move! Now you see how the engineering part fits in! What you see here is Calder's famous work, the 'Cirque Calder' or Calder Circus. What you don't see here is that all the parts of this circus can move - from the performers to the animals. And that is exactly what makes Calder's work so special and unique. He was also a man of many talents; along with sculpting and painting, he also designed jewelry, rugs, tapestries and sets - he even painted an entire airplane! Alexander, or Sandy, was from a family of artists. His father and grandfather were sculptors and his mother a portrait artist. Young Sandy's first sculpture was a clay elephant, when he was four years old. He started out making jewelry for his sister's dolls and then went on to design jewelry for other well known artists and their families - Joan Miro, Georgia O'Keeffe, Marcel Duchamp, Marc Chagall and Peggy Guggenheim. With 22nd July being Calder's birthday, we think it's the perfect time to introduce kids to this amazing artist and his works, with some fun and simple Alexander Calder art projects for kids.

Earlier last week, fellow Rockin' Arts Mom Kristen from Art History Mom shared a really neat way to introduce young children to the artwork of Henri Matisse. I was so intrigued by her post that I did a shortened version of her lesson with my 2 1/2 year old son. Wow. I was so pleasantly surprised at how Chuck responded. He loved looking at the artwork, counting the figures, and finding different colors and shapes. Since Matisse's collages are so colorful and graphic looking, we then tried making our own Matisse inspired artwork at home. Kids Make Matisse Inspired Collages (This post contains affiliate links. Thank you for your support.) Aren't they beautiful? Now little did I know, Kristen (from Art History Mom) also had a similar idea in mind. She ended up making these lovely Playdough and Construction Paper Collages with her son. I think that using play dough to make collages is such a cool idea, so definitely check out her activity too! Materials Needed to Make Matisse Inspired Collages Construction Paper Scissors (Adult and Kid-friendly scissors) Glue (Glue Sticks and Elmer's Glue) Let's Make Matisse Inspired Collages! 1. I first did Art History Mom's Henri Matisse Lesson with Chuck. Then, we looked at some of Matisse's other collages online. (Note: If you're a book lover, you could also read one of these Matisse books for Kids.) 2. Then, I explained that we were going to make our own collages just like Matisse. So, we pulled out some construction paper and cut out shapes. I cut out the more complicated ones to resemble some of the shapes found in Matisse's artwork. 3. Then we glued our shapes on. (Chuck said this collage was supposed to be a bumble bee. Can you see the resemblance?) Once our artwork dried, we had some lovely Matisse-inspired artwork of our own. I enjoyed this activity because we got to talk about art, math (counting, shapes, and spatial relations), and colors. Chuck seemed to enjoy the activity because he got to use scissors (which always ups the coolness factor of any project) and glue (which he enjoyed wiping everywhere.) Let me know if you try this activity out with your kids! I think they'll have fun (and learn some things too.) (Side note: I learned about Matisse's personal history too... it was super inspiring.)
