Neville Brody studied graphic design from 1977 to 1980 at the London College of Printing. In the early 1980s Brody belonged to the alternative music scene. As art director of Fetish Records, Neville Brody experimented with a new graphic language informed by ideas from the subculture. Brody mixed typefaces or interspersed typeface with decorative details such as geometric elements, symbols, and pictures. From 1981 to 1986 Neville Brody was art director of the magazine "The Face", for which he designed a distinctive typographical appearance that inspired magazine designers and other designers worldwide. From 1983 to 1987 Neville Brody designed the London program magazine "City Limits" and worked as a designer for "New Socialist", "Touch", and "Arena" magazines. In 1988 the Victoria & Albert Museum in London mounted a retrospective of Neville Brody's work. In 1994 Neville Brody and F. Richards co-founded Research Studios for Visual Communications and Design in London. In 1992 Neville Brody designed the image and branding of the House of Culture in Berlin. Neville Brody also designed the ORF (Austrian Television, 1992/93) image and Premiere (1991-1994).
