"He Ruined My Artwork!" Dealing With Art Room Vandalism % %
This "Lily of the Valley" is haunted by the ghosts of petal's past. Take home and enjoy these mini prints of ghoulish friends! Due to the nature of being hand-printed, some prints contain "chatter" around the edges of the image. I do, however, try my best to minimize the amount of chatter in each print(: Notice: The prints made on black paper and the prints made on white are only made available with their opposite color ink. If you have any questions regarding the prints (or have a custom color request) feel free to message me and I will do my best to fulfill your wishes. The prints made on white scallop paper and off-white scallop paper have a linen finish. Due to slight variations in screen/monitor calibrations, the color may differ slightly on your device than that of the actual product. ***All prints will be signed along with a number addition and date created. Paper size is 5x7.
Last week, 5th grade embarked on an EPIC project, that I've never tried before, but ever since I saw it on the SmART Class blog, I'v wanted to try it! Here's an example from their website! Btw, there's also a great tutorial on Art Room Britt's blog too! Here's how we started ours! Day 1: The kids can choose between a dog, cat, and bird of prey. We started on the eyes nose first. When I taught the first classs, I let them draw the eyes and noses themselves, but it was taking FOREVER, and they were a little too small. For the next class, I made a few tracers for the eyes, and nose, and that went much smoother! We drew them with pencil, traced them with black Jack Richeson Semi Moist paint, and then the next class filled in the irises with Crayola 28 pack oil pastels. They're off to a great start! Mrs. Kilby's class is knocking it out of the park!! Mrs. Kilby's class is almost done! Way to go my awesome artists!! Here are some great examples from Mrs. Ross'class! Today, 4th grade starting working on their self portraits, inspired by the art of Tad Carpenter, and the fabulous art teacher Katie Allain. You can check out their art on their Instagram accounts, if you click on their names. He's the artist who designed the cover for the book, Wonder! Here's how we created ours! Materials: Sax 90lb paper Sax liquid watercolors Sharpie markers Pencils hair examples Day 1: Talk about the book and movie, Wonder. I plan on playing the audio book, and listening to it while they work. I demonstrated how to draw a simple outline of a face and a simple hairline, like the artist did. I then demonstrated how to trace/color with a Sharpie, and paint with liquid watercolors. I also put up different hair styles on the screen. I think individual copies at their tables would work better, btw :) Here's my fist 4th grade class, working on theirs today!

Reduction Printmaking: In relief printing, a reduction print is a multicolor print in which the separate colors are printed from the same block. Usually, the lightest color is printed first and then the block is "reduced" by carving away certain areas to prepare the plate for the next color. The disadvantage of reduction printmaking is that once the print is complete, the process cannot be duplicated. The linocut is a printmaking technique similar to that of the woodcut, the difference bei
