Explore abstract art with a mix of media and methods, under the guidance of expert artist Helen Kaminsky. The Innovative Artist series provides a unique insight into the methods and materials used by leading contemporary artists who are pushing the boundaries of their art. Through numerous examples of the author's work alongside practical demonstrations, each book provides a fascinating exploration of the artist's creative process that will inspire the reader to move forward on their own artistic journey. Abstracts and Mixed Media is aimed at artists who wish to explore the possibilities offered by mixed media in new and impressive ways. Helen's love of colour and experimentation is carried through layers of imagery and texture with a gloriously vibrant mix of traditional and imaginative new techniques. It is the experimental combination of these methods that gives each painting its unique glowing quality. Artists will discover different ways of mixing and blending paint with unusual materials, collage techniques, fun printing methods, mark-making with found objects, and original ways to incorporate homemade stencils and stamps into their work.

Working Big is a remarkable book about large-scale art projects for kids. Written in 1975, it is long out-of-print, but available these days as a free, downloadable pdf from Public Collectors. It gives an expansive view (with how-to's) of discovery projects to do with your own kids, or fantasize about for your (grown-up) self. Working Big's essential premise is that kids and artists often take similar approaches in exploring and working with their environment. Its chapter titles - 'Kids' Space Equals Artists' Space' and 'The Artist Shapes as the Child Shapes' - should be printed on tee shirts, or scrawled

I loved making this fun sculpture depicting a mother with her 3 little children. She carries a baby on her hip who is fascinated by her siblings' playfulness and is keen to join in. The other two little girls are playing peekaboo around the mother. In bronze colour with sapphire blue highlights. The mother stands at 46cm tall including the base and is 37cm at its widest point. If you like this piece but would like one made personally to suit your requirements please contact me. For example number of children, sex of children, colour scheme, hair length.... I can discuss the options with you and work with you to create your own bespoke sculpture. Within my sculptures I endeavour to capture an emotional response through movement and dynamics. These are bespoke, quirky mixed media sculptures all using wire, foil and fabric dipped into a weatherproof textile hardener called Paverpol. Each unique piece is individually made; as they evolve they form a spirit of their own. This keeps the joy of making them alive and exciting. I am happy to post to most countries; if your country is not listed below, just let me know and I will find out the postage costs for you. My sculptures make great gifts for those special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, births, Christenings. I welcome commissions and if you would like to see examples of some of my previous work please visit my website at www.stephaniejacobs.co.uk. Thankyou! .
