This super FUN and challenging lesson is great for your secondary- especially gifted-students. I use the day before Spring Break or the end-of-the- year to grab my students' attention. Do you know what a contronym is? It's an auto-antonym. "Wicked" means both "evil" and "great"- complete opposites! There are over 50 contronyms for students to learn and use in an activity. The PowerPoint is the basis of the lecture. Worksheets, an activity and a lesson plan are included. This product is great for the Gifted and Talented! Students will think of this more as a puzzle or game, but it actually teaches students how to use context clues when trying to determine the meaning of an unfamiliar word. My students LOVED this lesson. (And I loved teaching it; I even "taught" it to my family and we are STILL finding new contronyms to discuss!) This lesson definitely makes students think!!!
