For the senior grades, instead of teaching the elements and principles of art (for the 100th time!), I cover this material instead. It goes through POST MODERN art theories, and really pushes student's understanding of art history and their own art. It covers: 8 main types (such as appropriation, layering, the gaze, etc) Lots of examples of artworks (including student works) + artists A sketchbook assignment where they copy down the notes provided, plus add in examples of artworks. They get so creative with this! These really spark AMAZING discussions in class, and push the student's own work in new creative ways. I've also done an extension project where they have to do their own artwork demonstrating one of these elements. It's uploaded as a PDF and PPT, so you can access it however you need to. Enjoy!
