2016 Sharing Time Outline Theme: "I Know the Scriptures Are True" March 2016 Sharing Time Topic: Heavenly Father Speaks to Us through His Prophets March 2016 Scripture: “What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, … whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same” (D&C 1:38). March 2016 Song: “Stand for the Right” (CS, 159) March Week 1 Topic: Prophets speak for Heavenly Father. FREE PDF DOWNLOAD OF PRINTABLES Preparation: Prayerfully study and think about what the specific needs of your primary are and how you can teach them this doctrine. Sharing Time Instruction: Begin sharing time by placing the following pictures on the the board: Noah, Nephi, Moses, Joseph Smith, Moroni and Enos. Ask the primary children the following question, "If I was going to go somewhere far away from my home and my father wanted to to talk to me and give me some instructions, what are some ways he could do this?" Some answers could be: He could send a messenger, he could call me on the phone, he would write me a letter, he could send me an email, he could come and visit me, etc. Explain that we really did leave our home, Heaven, and travel away from our Heavenly Father. Invite the primary children to share some ways that Heavenly Father can give us instruction. Answers might include, (He gives us the scriptures, he speaks to us through prophets, he answers our prayers, etc.) Show the primary children the scriptures, ask the children what they are? Explain that in the scriptures are words or instructions given to the prophets from our Heavenly Father, for us. Show the primary children the week's theme poster and invite them to recite, "Prophets speak for Heavenly Father". Explain that this week we are going to discuss the messages and instructions given to those prophets in the scriptures, next week we will focus on the more recent prophets. On the table in the front of the room have a mail box. (See the instructions below) Beforehand place some envelopes inside which have the following scripture references: Noah: Genesis 6:12-22; Nephi/Lehi: 1 Nephi 2:1-7; Moses: Acts 7:30-34; Joseph Smith: Joseph Smith- History 1:14-20; Enos: Enos 1:4-9; Moroni: Moroni 10:1-5 Invite a primary child to come up and open the mail box and pull out one of the envelopes and open it (you might want to just seal it with a sticker, so it is easy to open). Invite them to read the scripture reference. For Senior primary they can have a scripture chase to see who finds the scripture first, then can read it. For Junior primary it can be a scripture chase among the teachers (the kids can help them ;)). When the scripture is found, have that person read the scripture. Then invite the primary child who chose the envelope to place the scripture reference underneath the picture of who it would go with. Discuss the scripture as a primary and point out what message it is that Heavenly Father sent to us through that prophet. Invite another child to come up and continue with the above steps until all prophets messages have been discussed. Share your testimony on Prophets speaking for Heavenly Father. Messages from the prophets: - Noah: God loves His children, when we are living righteously we will be protected and blessed. He is also a God of justice and can not tolerate sin. - Nephi/Lehi: The message would be of Obedience and Gratitude to our Heavenly Father. Lehi obediently left all behind except for his family and when they had stopped to pitch their tents he gave thank to God. - Moses: God is mindful of our Afflictions and is there to help deliver us from them. - Joseph Smith: The message is that of the restored gospel. God and his son Jesus Christ both appeared to a young boy in the latter-days. We learn to both God and Jesus are two distinct beings and that the Savior is the son of God. We learn that if we ask in sincere prayer that our prayers will be answered. - Enos: We learn of repentance and forgiveness. We learn that God is merciful. We also learn to think of our brothers and sisters and the desire for their welfare. -Moroni: We learn that if we read and ponder over the Book of Mormon and then come to Heavenly Father asking in faith that He will let us know of the truthfulness of the scriptures by the power of the Holy Ghost. Welcome to my blog. Today I want to share a technique that is an oldie but goodie. The wax paper resist technique. It works amazing with distress inks. This tutorial will be featured on the Distress Ink Technique page on facebook. I am one of the admins and we take turns to post a tutorial on there every monday, the technique of the week :-) Well let me explain this particular technique. You will need an old iron to do this technique, or one you don't use for your fancy clothes ;-) This is what you need: an old iron, two pieces of card, a piece of wax paper and an embossing folder. Oh and an embossing machine obviously lol. I dry embossed the sheet of wax paper using an embossing folder and a piece of card to add more pressure. Here you see the pattern embossed in the wax paper. I cover the front and back with my pieces of card stock, and put this sandwich inbetween two sheets of cheap copy paper. You iron over the cheap copy paper to get the wax to melt onto the card stock. It goes very quickly. I put my iron on the highest setting and just move it over the sheets a few times. You can barely see it, but the wax print is on there! Trust me ha ha ha. See, I told you it was there. Here you see the difference between the embossed and the debossed side of the wax paper imprint. Left is the embossed side and on the right the debossed side. I inked over it with stormy sky distress ink and an ink blending tool. I turned them into two christmas cards with some embellishments and stamped sentiment. I stuck the card onto a card blank after I trimmed it to size and inked the edges with some walnut stain distress ink. I had this ATC laying around for ages, so I decided to use it as a card topper. Then stamped my sentiment in black and after that completely dried, I stamped it again but with embossing ink and heat embossed it in silver. On this card I stamped the sentiment in archival ink and after it dried I wrapped some baker's twine around the card stock befor I stuck it to the card blank. I added a little red jingle bell to give it a more festive look. I painted a wooden snowflake silver and adorned it to my card and it is done! Thank you so much for taking the time to have look and I hope you are going to give this technique a try :-) Have a great day, and keep your craft on ;-) Take care, Freddie Xox

Here's Van Gogh's Chair to go with Van Gogh's Sunflower 3D lesson. Again, thanks Anne from Use Your Coloured Pencils for inspiring this idea with her Van Gogh Pop-Up Chair lesson. Each student was given one black paper and 2 white papers. First step we did was place 2 whites evenly in center of black paper, then folded up the bottom of the papers all at the same time. (I think the paper was 5x7" and we folded up 3"?) After that, cut two slits in one white paper on the fold to make pop-up chair seat. Then we drew and colored chair and background on first white paper, then drew and colored floor and wall on white paper with slits cut for chair. Then we drew floor and wall on 2nd white paper in area that shows through the back, when white papers are placed on top of one another. Last, glue white papers onto black background. Example of front white paper and background white paper. Below is what they look like when placed on top of one another. The little chairs looked so cute on the book shelves in the classroom:) Thanks bunches Flamson 6th graders!

To make the Bird of Paradise punch art, all you will need is the Two-Step Bird punch. Punch 2 pieces of Pacific Point card stock as seen in the above picture. Next, punch out 2 Pumpkin Pie and 1 Old Olive birds. Cut these pieces on the lines in the picture above. Sorry, the lines did not come out too good. Here are the pieces that you will need to make one flower. I used the sponge dauber and various inks to shade the edges of each piece. The following pictures will show you how to assemble the flower: Trim the excess off from the lower edge of the flower. Here is a picture of the finished product... a Bird of Paradise flower!
