Abraham Lincoln and His Emancipation Proclamation- A FULL Size Poster Print of the Emancipation Proclamation originally designed and formed into a lithograph created in 1888 by the Strobridge Lithograph Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. This version, created in 1888, features a color portrait of President Lincoln in an ornate oval; two American flags cross above him. Above his head flies an American eagle with a stars and stripes shield, arrows and olive branch clasped in its talons. The text of the Emancipation Proclamation is below, set in an ornate text below. On the side of text are two allegorical figures. On the left of the text, the classical blindfolded woman holds the scales of Justice in one hand and a sword in the other. On the right, the Lady of Liberty holds a torch with her right hand and her left hand leans on a sword. Many oral histories relate the story of slaves spending Years Eve, singing and praying, waiting for the midnight hour the hour of their freedom. We can only imagine their joy and apprehension as the page turned on one of the most horrible eras in American history. This poster is a magnificent commemoration of that event and the document that produced it. There were two versions of the Emancipation Proclamation. This is the second one, enumerating the specific states and territories of the Confederate States of America that failed to halt their rebellion against the Union by the date certain of January 1, 1863. The other, issued earlier in 1862, only warned that the states still in rebellion would have their slaves freed on this date. While this one halted slavery in those rebellious states, it did not include every slave, including those in the listed Border States and territories. The rest were freed by the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution upon its ratification by sufficient states on December 18, 1865. Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation using his powers as Commander-In-Chief of the military and included the signature of Secretary of State, William Seward. While it was not perfect, it empowered the Union Army to protect the freedom of the slaves as they advanced into the Southern States. In practical application, many slaves were still kept by slave-owners since Confederate States of America military still controlled those areas of the South. Thus, the proclamation by implication encouraged slaves to make their way to the Union lines where they not only gained their freedom; they could also serve in the Union Army THIS WILL PRINTED ON SMOOTH FINE ART WATERCOLOR PAPER This map is similar to ones found at Restoration Hardware for 1/4 the cost This Fine Art Print has been reproduced from the original source . using UltraChrome K3 Inks which are rated up to 125+ years not cheap inks that will fade in 3 months This map will include a border of white for framing and Matting purposes which can be trimmed off if needed (not included in the size) very suitable for framing PERFECT FOR YOUR HOME OR OFFICE Thank you for looking. First by selling mine (downsizing) and then by finding really nice ones to sell to others. I discovered Precious Moments later in life after I became a Christian. If there is an original box, plastic, gift card, with the figurine - I will photograph them and you will see all that is included in the sale always in the very FIRST PHOTOGRAPH. If there is no picture of a box, plastic, card, etc., then there is not one. Again, please note what is in the all-inclusive first photograph. When I photograph a plaque, the plaque stand is NOT included. Sometimes I can find the figurines in mint condition and sometimes gently used. I will state their condition in the description. I hate paying a lot on shipping myself, I am not here to make money on shipping charges! But I do like to pack them so that they will make it to you safely. I will also be happy to combine shipping on multiple pieces. Please email me first because some figurines combine well in a larger box and some do not. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
