Nowruz, known as the Iranian (Persian) New Year, is one of the most ancient celebrations in history and has been celebrated for around 4000 years. It is an ancient celebration at the exact moment of the vernal equinox as the main event occurring on 20 or 21 March every year in the northern hemisphere! #Nowruz means "The New Day" and it's a beginning of the year in Iranian calendar. As the spring equinox approaches, Iranians welcome it with sparkling clean houses, new set of clothes and the most important one, #Haftseen table. Haftseen is the ceremonial spread, meaning "Seven S's" and includes seven items all-starting with the S letter in Iranian language (Farsi). Every single item at Haftseen table has got its own meaning and symbolisation as I put them together in this short video: All members of the family gather around the Nowruz spread and wait for the moment of the spring equinox, which happens at the exact moment the sun crosses the equator of the earth & that's the main reason I love it because no matter where we are, we all will be celebrating at the one exact moment! On this moment, hugs and kisses are shared and gifts are exchanged. Traditional food is prepared, eaten and the home is full of joy.
