The Anfibio sofa ranks among the most outstanding cult products of Italian design. It is innovative, original, and highly functional; it is a revolutionary sofa-bed, a symbol of high quality and sapient artisanry. It is possible to find it in the permanent collection of 13 museums worldwide, among which the MoMa in New York, since 1972. Alessandro Becchi designed the "Anfibio" sofa for the Italian manufacturer Giovannetti in 1970. It is characterized by generous dimensions and soft, embracing shapes that invite relaxation and comfort. It reminds a floating dinghy thanks to its lack of rigid mechanism. This feature inspired its name, which means amphibious. Furthermore, the sofa presents a rectangular steel structure and padding in non-deformable high-density polyurethane, covered with acrylic thermo-welded fibers and protective fabric. The Anfibio sofa by Giovannetti is available covered in leather or fabric and several colors. This artwork is the ideal convertible solution, the perfect combination of aesthetic research and innovative household living. Alessandro Becchi was born in Florence in 1946. He studied at ISIA in his hometown, and in the late 60s, he began his career as a designer. In 1970 he designed the revolutionary Anfibio sofa for Giovannetti. In 1972, thanks to the success of Anfibio, he was invited to the exhibition "Italy: the New Domestic Landscape" at the Museum of Modern Arts in New York. This date opens in close collaboration with Giovannetti. He designed a series of sofa-beds, such as Only You, Brando, Diletto, and the famous armchairs Le Bugie. Designer with considerable capacity, Becchi brings innovation, freshness, love for the project, establishing, in addition to an excellent working relationship with Benito Giovannetti. The collaboration between Alessandro Becchi and the Italian brand was interrupted by his death in 1987.

Marcando movimientos en West Side Story Dicen que era malo como una araña pollito. Pero dicen también, que su genio creativo era infinito. Jerome Robbins se movió con comodidad en dos mundos que, al menos en la actualidad, suelen tocarse poco entre sí: el ballet y el teatro musical. Nació, vivió y murió en la ciudad de Nueva York. Muchas de sus coreografías tienen esa ciudad como escenografía y sus obras forman parte del repertorio del Ballet de la Ciudad de Nueva York (NYC Ballet) Empezó como bailarín de ensamble en 1938 en algún musical de Broadway y dos años después se unió al American Ballet Theatre. Ese ir y venir entre ambos mundos le permitió crear su primer éxito coreográfico Fancy Free con música de Leonard Bernstein, que después fue el cimiento de la película Un día en Nueva York, protagonizada por Gene Kelly. Esta es una versión completa para TV que el NYC Ballet hizo en 1986. En 1948 se incorporó al NYC Ballet, donde llegó a ser subdirector por 9 años. Pero eso no le impidió seguir creando para Broadway. Son suyas emblemáticas coreografías de musicales como El rey y yo de 1951, West Side Story de 1957 y El violinista en el tejado de 1964. (este año se cumplen 50 años de esa puesta y andan produciendo veladas especiales fiddler-at-50-gala) De West Side Story, mi escena favorita por la complejidad de la coreografía grupal, es la del mambo en el gimnasio. Aquí está en la escena en la película de Hollywood que se hizo eco del éxito de Broadway Y la que sigue es una perlita menos conocida en el mundo del musical, pero todo un clásico en el del Ballet. "El vals del error", con música de Chopin y decenas de gags que me siguen haciendo llorar de risa. Esta versión, también del NYC Ballet está bajada de la televisión española. (no se asusten por el exceso de explicaciones del locutor del comienzo, que luego se calla y no llega a arruinar los chistes) Posdata: el Royal Ballet de Londres anda ensayando el Concierto de Robbins.
