Scythian Griffin holding a stag head in its beak. From Pazyryk, Russian Altai mountains, 4th century B.C. Saint Petersburg, State Hermitage Museum. ***************************************************************************** This intimidating male headgear was found in the tomb of a Scythian chieftain in the Altai mountains in Siberia. Around 2,300 years old, it’s thought this headgear may have been worn by the chieftain in his final battle, as the damage to it corresponds with the fatal wounds on the man’s head. The carving depicts the head of a fantastic eagle, holding a deer head in its beak, with figures carrying geese on either side. These elements were part of a complex headpiece which consisted of a decorated felt cap topped with an elaborate wooden crest.
Ukrainian archaeologists say a discovery in a Scythian tomb sharpens our understanding of the prehistoric warriors who once ruled the steppes of Eurasia.

A helmet, short sword and whip hanging from the belt are recognizable from the front, armed warriors with neck rings. book: ____________ Soldan sağa: *İskit (çizimler), MÖ. 600-300 , Ukrayna *Hakkari Taş Steller , MÖ.2000 *Orta Asya Türk Taşbaba 6.-7.yy, ek: Veli SEVİN BELLETEN, 243, Cilt: LXV - Sayı: 243 - Yıl: 2001 Ağustos 1998 yılında Hakkari kent merkezindeki Ortaçağ Kalesinin kuzey etekleri üzerinde 13 adet taş stel bulundu. - BELLETEN, 243, Cilt: LXV - Sayı: 243 - Yıl: 2001 Ağustos // ayrıntılı: in Russian language about Turkish stels: LİNK _____________ The Zbruch Idol - 9th century Discovered near the village called Liczkowce under Polish rule, now Lychkivtsi (Личківці), Ukraine, just north of Husiatyn, in 1848. Scytowie. Kultura fascynująca no i koczownicza. Trzymajcie kciuki :)
