This is the front door to The Orchard, designed and built by C F A Voysey as his own home in 1899. Voysey's expansive adaptation of the English country cottage was his home until 1906 during which time he commuted to his office in Baker St. on the Metropolitan line from Chorleywood. The house was placed surprisingly close to the road and privacy is maintained by a high yew hedge.
