Today I'm sharing with you 10 amazing armoire makeover ideas you can do yourself!
Good Saturday morning. The rains of yesterday have blown out, it's a real 'Fallish' morning...... damp, grey, with leaves starting to pile up here and there, but some sunshine promised for later, then the trees will be more colorful hopefully. Today will be another busy one......first an early stop at SuzAnna's Antiques to take granddaughter to work, and you just know I'll be looking around the shop. The armoire is finished and standing empty, must work on re-stocking with contents of several boxes of decorating books, English china, French linens, Scotch whiskey, Grand Marnier, Spanish sherry........crystal glasses and decanters..........you get the picture. The lower region is 'the bar', doors kept closed, the upper - the pretty part for all to see. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. I found the waxing part somewhat harder and more time-consuming than the painting....... but it's the waxed finish which brings out the beauty, protects the paint, and gives a large piece like this 'life'. I distressed prominent edges very lightly, no beating with chains or marring with screwdrivers.......was not going for that rustic look. Now I have several other painting projects in mind. How about you? Anything planned requiring a pot of paint, a brush, and a few spare hours days!
These painted armoire ideas are the perfect solution to add some character and personality to your bedroom or living space.
Introducing Antoinette! This vintage armoire got a French Provincial inspired, hand-painted makeover.
Hi friends! If you read our blog first thing Tuesday morning, I’ll be at the hospital with my little sweetie. She’s having some minor testing done, but she’ll be sedated for the first time. I’m sure all will be well but if you think of us and would like to say a prayer… I’d love that. ;) We’ve made it through another snow storm and man oh man am I hoping it’s the last one of this winter. A little behind the scenes info about how we do what we do… our barn is about 250 feet behind our house. What that means is we have to carry furniture in the snow once the snow gets too deep to drive it back to the barn. We already had some snow from the snow storm a couple of weeks ago and tried to drive through it. Well… we started sliding down the very steep hill in our back yard. John told me to try to drive it in reverse while he lifted on the front to help the back tire touch the ground. I could just picture hitting the gas and it sliding down more and you know… squishing him. He was…

Go to Steven and Chris for the 411 on the basic easy DIY Materials mirrors, cut to size metallic spray paint in various colours SpongeTowels spray bottle filled with water spray adhesive glassware and other bar accessories Method Measure dimensions of back wall of each shelf. Have glass-store clerk cut pieces of mirror to fit. Clean and dry mirrors well. Spray mirror with water. Be sure spray bottle is set to a very fine mist; you want to cover the entire surface of the mirror in small droplets of water. Immediately spray mirror with a light mist of spray paint in various metallic shades (e.g. silver, copper, etc.). After 30 seconds, dab mirror with a SpongeTowel. Keep your touch light; you're trying to get rid of the water, not the spray paint. Repeat with mirrors for other shelves. Affix antiqued mirrors to backs of shelves using spray adhesive.
