I am linking up with my sweet friend, Marsha at A Differentiated Kindergarten to share a little about my math stations. Here is a quick picture to show you how I have organized my math stations in the past: The cart was actually re-purposed from holding an overhead projector (yes, I not only had one…but...

I am in the midst of redesigning Mr. B’s classroom. Last week I made these fan medallions to put up on one of the bulletin boards. A week has gone by, and I am feeling more gracious about them, maybe they weren’t as boring as I remember them being. I might make a few more… […]
Chakra is a Sanskrit word literally meaning wheel. Chakras can be best descibed as the vortexes of energy located vertically along the spine and they correspond to the spinal plexuses in the physical body. There are 7 major chakras and each chakra appears like a spinning wheel of light in a clockwise direction.

Today I visited Grimsby to hang my work for the forthcoming 62 Group exhibition 'Ebb & Flow'. For this exhibition I have worked on a sequence of three large cyanotype prints on silk. The tryptic, called 'Baptism', explores the euphoric experience of cold water swimming. Through personal observations, the sensual awakening of the body is traced as shimmering stitched marks on the surface. You can see this and work by many distinguished artists in Ebb & Flow at the Fishing Heritage Centre and Grimsby Minster, Grimsby, NE Lincolnshire from 9th September to 2nd November 2014. You can see some photos and read about the special events on the Ebb & Flow Facebook page.
'Java Jive', Hand Pulled Linocut Print, 2021 size - 9x12 inches I mean, everyone loves coffee right? This is a handcarved linocut print depicting an Italian coffee pot, a small cup of espresso and some coffee beans on the table. I am blessed to go to Italy each year with my students, and my purchase of one of these small pots has brought me nothing but joy (let's bring some joy to your life too!) Keep in mind that this is a hand printed image so there will be slight marks and variations. This is also a hand numbered edition of 100, so your number may vary! Each print has my hand written signature in the bottom right corner. A little about me: I am a working artist who is also an associate professor of painting and printmaking and department chair at High Point University in North Carolina. My undergraduate and graduate degrees in art are from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with additional graduate work at Johnson State University in Vermont. I have also completed several artist residencies, including Vermont Studio Center and SCUOLA di ARS GRAFICA in Venice, Italy. My works have been shown nationally and internationally. Recent exhibitions include the Blue Mountain Gallery in NYC, San Diego Museum of Art and Savannah College of Art and Design. I’ve also shown my work in the UK, Italy, France, Germany and China.
I am still very much enjoying designing bird patterns, so I designed an other one for my patrons. A cute blue tit. You can find the pattern here
I am one of those people who cannot work in silence. I have always incorporated music into my classroom whether it be just for background noise, or to enhance our lesson plan. A few years ago I sub…
I LOVE BIAS BINDING! There, I said it...I love bias binding and yes all caps that's how much I love it ;) Why am i in love with bias binding? It's an elegant finish suitable for a lot of projects and fabrics. After using the technique for a few years (on just about every project) I find it's actually a quick, clean and easy way to finish garments.
