Alice is designed in collaboration with the incredible Saara of Good Vibes Yarn, and is also the first design for my upcoming book: Through the Knitting Glass Patterns Inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland Good Vibes Yarn: https://goodvibesyarn.co.uk/ Alice is knit seamlessly from the bottom of the apron up, with afterthought pockets and straps that criss cross in the back. Stitches are then picked up for the ruffles at the shoulders and along hem. The sash is knit at the end, which has angled edges, and is then seamed to the yoke of the apron, as well as the straps. The four sizes accommodate XS-6X busts (32-64 inches), and the sash can be made longer or shorter to suit any waist measurement. Woo! My first self published project! Every chapter of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is represented by two colorwork sections. It’s taken a little over two years to complete the chart and knit the sample, and it’s been a lot of fun. It’s incredibly exciting to finally get it into the hands of knitters and see their projects start rolling in!
This detailed cardi is pure country! We'd love to wear it to an Alice in Wonderland themed garden party (is that too specific?). A modified basketweave pattern brings together stockinette with delicate lace flowers, over reverse stockinette. The three-quarter sleeves and thin sliver of ribbing at the hems, neck, and button band give this cardigan a refined air. Choose bright and bold colors for springtime or dark and moody hues for autumn. Pricing will vary depending on your size. This pattern is for intermediate knitters and features a sloped bind off around the arms. Sample is shown in #2 colorway. This is a listing for a knitting pattern not the finished object. See my other designs on my website at https://irocknits.com/shop/ A collaboration with Toad Hollow Yarns – Alice in Wonderland Theme. We must learn to sit together. When my daughter was a small child in elementary school, she would come home from school and say, “Susan said this, or Susan did that” and I would say “Who’s Susan?” and she would tell me “I sit with her at lunch.” So, one day, I was at the school and decided to investigate by peeking into the lunchroom and there sat my daughter at a special table with Susan, who was in a wheelchair, and (with the help of an aide) had a lot of trouble eating. I got a little choked up and left quickly but later I asked her: “Tell me about Susan.” And her reply was “No one else will sit with her, so I do.” Ah – from the mouth of a child comes the best lesson in life. As adults we still have not always learned this lesson, have you ever entered a room with a crowd of people, and no one glances your way or offers you a seat at their table? The March Hare in Alice in Wonderland – offers the sentence we all want to hear “I will sit with you.” This shawl is very thematic in nature, maybe too much so, but I want the knitter to feel the sentiment, to see it in the stitches. Sections 1 & 5 represent long rows of people sitting together at tables. (Picture the tops of knitter’s heads sitting at a long narrow table together.) Sections 2 & 4 turn things on end and have small groupings of 4 friends at small tables knitting together. And Section 3 is a visual representation of coming together to sit at tables with new friends. I hope you will go along for this journey. SIZE: One Size FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: 9.5” deep x 58.25” wide (tip-to-tip), blocked (49.5 x 148 cm) YARN: Toad Hollow Superwash Merino (DK weight; 80% superwash merino, 20% nylon; 231 yds/100g) per skein – 2 skeins in colorway Alice NEEDLE: US 8 (5.0mm) 32-inch or longer circular needle (to accommodate the number of sts), OR size to obtain gauge. “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” “That depends on where you want to get to,” said the Cat. “I don’t much care where--” said Alice. “Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat. “--so long as I get SOMEWHERE,” Alice added as an explanation. -Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll You’ll get somewhere quick with this engaging chevron stripe shawl made with one main color and five mini skeins. Attractive, slim stripes allow you to carry your colors along, so you’ll only weave in ends where you’ve moved on to the next mini skein. You’ll be able to get someWEAR in no time at all! Pattern calls for Frabjous Fibers and Wonderland Yarns in Mad Hatter sport, 4 oz. skein and 5 oz. Mini Skein Pack. US 6 needles, 21 sts x 29 rows = 4 inches in stockinette. need help with CDD (Center Double Decrease?). Check out this video tutorial: tinyurl.com/ybcvf8nb UPDATE: Some knitters have found that they run out of the main color before binding off. To help combat that, this latest version has you beginning stripes at the very onset. v 1.3 We’ve knit 4 versions and haven’t had any issues--but you know how these things go. If you use the new version and still run out of the MC, try a contrasting bind-off. :-)
Alice in Wonderland has got to be the most illustrated book of all times. I think only lazy illustrators haven't done Alice. However, I haven't seen that many different Through the Looking Glass versions. That made me think, is the second Alice story not as good as the first one? I'm almost ashamed to admit that I haven't read it. Could it be that the overwhelming popularity of Alice has put me off? Maybe so. When I saw Helen Oxenbury's illustrations for the Looking Glass, I fell in love with them and actually wanted to read the book. I'm half way through it now and enjoying it very much. But I think I'm enjoying the art more than the story. Have a look at these illustrations from the book. Can you judge me?
Of course this car cannot belong to only one of my dolls. Alice and Wacky Hatter wanted to go an a little trip together, and so you can see this car has space for two crocheted dolls!^^

This is a pair of yarn/crocheted dolls, one with a cloth dress. The 2 1/2 inch doll is all yarn, except for felt apron and beaded eyes. I believe she MAY be a finger puppet Alice in Wonderland, but not sure of this. This is just from researching. She has yellow hair, and pink skin, blue eyes. Blue dress, white apron. The other, the 3 1/2 inch, first brought to my mind, of Heidi or or mini hippie doll. She is all yarn, except for her flowered dress, which does not open at the bottom, and is slightly padded in the top area. She has yellow hair, pink skin. They are both in fairly good condition, a little wear from use or age. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

My name being Allison, when I was growing up I got called Allison Wonderland pretty often :) I always thought the movie was kind of bizarre, but that Disney version seems mainstream now after seeing the Tim Burton preview! Now that's bizarre! Bizarrely AWESOME! I don't know if Bizarrely is a word, but, I digress, I decided to make an Alice doll. She's not really the Disney version, not really the Tim Burton version so much either. Of course she's blonde, but really this pattern could be made into just a sweet doll, not necessarily a storybook character. Her little white rabbit took a whole 15 minutes to make, and the pattern is just too easy and fun NOT to post here. Make him for Alice and then in a couple months PLEASE make them in pastel colors and stick 'em in your kids Easter baskets. That would be so cute!! The White Rabbit! Head and body: Using white yarn and an E Hook, make an adjustable ring, ch 1, and sc 6 into ring. R1: 2 sc each stitch (12) R2: (2sc next st, sc next st)* rep around (18) R3: (2sc next st, sc next 8 st)* rep around (20) R4-10: sc each st (20) R11: sc into first 10 st, skip next 10 st (10) R12: starting at 1st st of R11, sc into each st (10) R13: sc each st (10) R14: sc2tog around (5) Fasten off first leg. Stuff bunny firmly. Join yarn at 11th st of R10. Repeat R11-14 for second leg. Ears (make 2): Using white yarn and an E Hook, make an adjustable ring, ch 1, and sc 6 into ring. R1: (2sc next st, sc next st)* rep around (9) R2-3: sc each st (9) R4: dec 1 (8) Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Flatten ear and attach to top of rabbit's head. Arms (make 2): Using white yarn and an E Hook, make an adjustable ring, ch 1, and sc 6 into ring. R1: (2sc next st, sc next st)* rep around (9) R2: sc each st (9) R3: dec 1 (8) R4: dec 1 (7) Fasten off leaving a long tail. Stuff arm and sew to side of body. Finishing: Using black embroidery thread, embroider eyes using a french knot. Come back up at same spot and make a french knot over the original to make the eye a little larger. Embroider nose and mouth as a big "x". Using pink embroidery thread, embroider nose using a satin stitch. Cut a small red heart from felt and either sew or glue to bunny's chest. Shade white rabbit's ears with blush. Done! The White Rabbit's buddy Alice is NOW available as a pattern in my Etsy shop, http://www.etsy.com/shop/CraftyisCool. Happy hooking!
