Two Pears for Two Pair The Crazy Quilted Bosc Pear Perfectly Pink Pear I really love the collaborative process. I wish more people would contact me with their ideas. Often, the best projects involve working with other artists, but it doesn't always have to be the case. Anyone with a favorite color and an image in their heart is a great partner in creativity. I've done so many apple pincushions in my shop and I really love thinking of new ways to adorn them. But, every once in a while, its good to shake things up. Thus, the pear pincushion. I have so many beautiful images of pear pincushions in my Pinterest Board called- Stick with Me- Pincushions as an Art Form. I love how the shape reminds me of one of my favorite aunts. Creating a pattern was very hit and miss. I still don't know if I really have the right slope. One of my best clients is always filled with ideas. She has favorite fabrics, loves vintage mother of pearl buttons, civil war reproduction prints, and so many things I really have enjoyed discovering. She usually picks out something I've made in the past and see's it in a different fabric, with different adornments, etc. I've been fortunate in my life as a portrait artist to explore the same process through paint. Crazy Quilt Pincushion with robin's eggs So, whilst visiting my blog or shop, or Pinterest board, please feel free to let your mind wander. Either to find your point of view in something you see and try it out. I don't mind if you try to do what I do, only if you do it your way. Let me be a stepping stone to something amazing. If you are not the type to sew what I sew, ask me to give your idea a whirl. It would be my honor.
Made this for my friend Diane to cheer her up! Hope it helps!!
The Sewing Sisters are back! I spent two days in Eau Claire with my sister Ginny and we had the best time! And what did we have planned? Anything we want! I usually spend the first couple hours oohing 'n aahing over all her latest projects. And yes, these are just a few of her creations. And once I'm on inspiration overload, we begin working on a project together. But this years project did not require a sewing machine. It required Altoid tins. First Ginny showed me how to make these darling rosette pin cushions. She has bins full of felted sweaters for me to choose from. Ginny made these beauties... ... and I made this one! Is it not the cutest! You can fill the tins with sewing notions ~ or give as a gift with a gift card inside ~ to their favorite craft store... maybe Hobby Lobby, JoAnns or Michaels. Wouldn't that make the coolest gift ever! For those of you curious about our other Sewing Sister projects ~ thread catchers tote bags & snowmen another tote bag pillowcases I'm linking up with Cindy's SHOW AND TELL FRIDAY.
Síguenos y no te pierdas nada. Facebook. Pinterest
This week is the week leading to a summer fair in Wrexham I'm going to participate in. For the past few days I've been sewing nothing else but these: Cheeky Chickens - funky beanbag poultry, embroidered by hand and machine, with all sorts of buttons, felt, beads and crochet flowers. I thought some chicks in bold sunny colours could bring some positive vibes into people's kitchens. I have a kinda feeling they may be a popular buy at the fair :) I wanted to take my chicks outside to photograph them in the grass with some nature in the background but the weather sucks really bad today so we had a bit of a photo session on the window sill with the rain droplets on the glass :) Maybe later on, during the week I'll manage to get a sunny photo of my poultry :) and some chicken features: Handmade Monday coming soon! Check Wendy's Blog for this linking fun! :)
