Hey ya'll! Today I'm so happy to announce that I have teamed up with Mary Maxim for a new CAL (crochet a long) that will be starting soon! And it's for my newest, free crochet pattern, The Purrfect Basket! Scroll down for all of the details! I hope you all will be joining in on this fun CAL! Scroll down for Part One! pin it for later THE CAL PATTERN The Purrfect Basket really is the purr-fect basket for anyone that loves organization! With a beautiful knitted looking texture created by the crochet waistcoat stitch, this basket is sturdy and absolutely adorable. Features such as handles that are shaped like cat ears and stitched on whiskers and nose, complete this basket making it both cute and functional. With super chunky weight yarn and a large crochet hook, this pattern works up super quick and each part will take less than an hour to complete. SIZE I wanted the size of the basket to not be too big but also not be too small. I think it came out the perfect size for storing yarn, holding a work in progress, or anything else that you would like to organize on a shelf or desk. 7.5" wide and 6" tall (not counting the handles) THE YARN When I started sketching for this design, I knew right away that I wanted an extra chunky yarn that would make a sturdy basket. I contacted Mary Maxim and they kindly suggested, Starlette Chunky Yarn, I have to say admit, it is the purrfect yarn for this project! Thank you Mary Maxim for the yarn support! Mary Maxim Starlette Chunky Yarn is a super 6 bulky weight, 100% acrylic yarn. It comes in 100 gram balls that have approximately 60 yards/55m. There are a variety of beautiful colors to choose from and although this is a chunky yarn, it feels very soft to the touch. If substituting yarn, try to find a yarn that is both similar in weight and fiber content. STITCH The Purrfect Basket uses the waistcoat stitch to create a beautiful, knitted looking texture. The waistcoat stitch is a variation on the single crochet and can take a little bit of practice to master. Check out my video tutorial here and practice before starting the pattern. Hello! Today I'm so excited to share that it is my day for the Furls Blog Hop! I have a new free pattern, the Twisted Twin Cable Scarf and I am obsessed by the cables in this design! And I know what you are thinking, is this knit? Absolutely not, it's tunisian crochet! Scroll down for the free crochet pattern that includes a photo tutorial and video tutorial too! pin it for later The cables in this scarf look very intricate, squishy and so so pleasing to the eye, but I promise you they aren't very hard to achieve, you just need an extra crochet hook for a little bit of help. The stitch pattern is a fun 6 row repeat and the rows fly off the hook! I loved working on my scarf while binge "watching" some of my favorite shows. I designed this pattern with Furls Wander Acrylic yarn in the colorway mist and it made this scarf so squishy soft and cuddly. I think this will be my favorite accessory this fall and winter! I also used my beautiful Furls Cruella Deville Tunisian crochet hook and my pretty pink Odyssey hook too! Scroll down to see these beauties in action! The soft yarn combined with the smoothness of these hooks, made working this project so much more fun and relaxing! I love how lightweight the tunisian hook is! I made my scarf 75 inches long and that makes it perfect to wear as a long scarf or even as an infinity looking scarf by wrapping it around a few times. So warm and perfect for the colder months! AND if you love this scarf, you will love the matching headband! It's a FREE pattern on my blog! Click here for the Twisted Cable Headband/Earwarmer! I love wearing this set together! Video Tutorials how to Tunisian crochet m1tb tunisian knit stitch tunisian purl stitch Tunisian Twisted Cable Notes This pattern is worked best with at least a 12 inch Tunisian crochet hook or a hook with an extension cord. This pattern is worked flat with the right side of the work facing. Do not turn your work at the beginning of each row. Each row is worked from right to left (forward pass) and then from left to right (return pass). At the beginning of each row, the first stitch is on the hook and counts as a Tunisian knit stitch. The width of the scarf will decrease after R6. Mark the cable rows with a stitch marker so it's easier to know what row you are on. If the size G (4.00 mm) crochet hook is too small to use as the cable hook then go up a hook size until you are comfortable.
