Today's post is going to serve as a few things all rolled up into one blog post. How's that for multitasking! First, I finally decided to participate in the September 30 Days of Lists. I've hesitated because I have a tendency to involve myself in too many things. But I was looking through my previous 30 Days of Lists journals the other day, looking for a particular page, and that stirred up a desire to join in again. And let's face it, I just love making lists! So today they are doing a blog hop to get the challenge going. We were challenged to go back to the March 2011 list and select a prompt, make a list, share it on our blog and then link up with other bloggers doing the same thing. I chose prompt #1 "A few things about yourself"...although I have a "few" more than a "few" things! (Ironically I labeled this post without even thinking about the title of the prompt!) I actually just finished this page last night and loved how it fit with the list prompt. It is actually a page I made for a prompt I did with my art group. As I mentioned in my post last week (Read it here), In August a few ladies from my church got together with me and we formed an art group. One of the ideas I had with this group was to use ancient art forms and re-purpose them using paper and mixed media. Our prompt was to make a list of things about yourself starting with "I am" and/or "I am a/an". Then we made mosaics out of paper and put our lists on them. So the above page is the result of that prompt for me. All of my mosaic pieces were cut from magazine pages. Here are some details before and after I added the words: I love it when I can kill two birds with one stone without even realizing it! Leica AG DLux6.. this camera was launched sometime late 2012 as a replacement for the DLux5 Initially at odds with the thought of NOT bringing my 5DMkII so I finally decided to bring the 5DMkII as a back up. Yes you read correctly the DLux6 was my main camera. Fact 1, my 21 days in California I used the DLux6 to take close to 95% of all the photos. What you see here is the camera with the EVF3 Electronic Viewfinder attached. Being so used to an SLR I could not do without a through the camera type handling effect. The low down is as follows:- Battery Life - Strangely enough this camera lasted the entire day whilst using the EVF3. With the view finder battery life is conserved. I could take it through its paces at night without using the attached flash due to the 1.4 aperture on this camera. So a plus point. EVF3 - For those not used to an SLR it would feel strange to compose your shots through the camera. I found this a breeze to use. Only thing is that the photo review is also via the EVF3 though you could view it by pressing the play button on the rear of the camera. The photo view through the EVF3 is very electronic so don't expect really nice looking shots, its more for you to use it as a guide for composition. Speed - Focusing speed was fast and accurate. The wake up was equally fast so a plus point there. LCD - The LCD screen is sharp and pretty accurate with respect to the colors and exposure. As with all LCDs it is pretty difficult to view the photos in the hot sun. Flash - The built in flash is sufficient for family type snap shots but there is where the usefulness ends. Shots look harsh. Finally, IQ (Image Quality). Despite being a 10.1 megapixel camera, the pictures still retained its Leica qualities in terms of color saturation, sharpness and contrast. However, it is NOT in the class of the X1 in terms of IQ. Photos at the longer end of the lense ie 90mm is a wee bit noisy. However, I would at the end of the day classify this as a really good premium point and shoot camera. For the price with the EVF3 you could buy a really good entry level SLR but a Leica is a Leica and the other wannabes just pale in comparison. Pros - Good IQ, Fast Focusing, Lightweight, has EVF, good battery life, Wide Aperture at 1.4 Cons - Expensive, a bit Noisy towards the longer end of the lense. Shots using the DLux6 on my flickr
