Tinga Tinga African Art This painting is by A Hassani original and one of a kind painting on heavy cloth. Painted in the 1970’s the colors are still vibrant. Tinga Tinga is a painting style that developed in the second half of the 20th century in the Oysterbay area of Tanzania and later spread to most east Africa. It is one of the most widely represented forms of paintings in Tanzania and Kenya. The genre is named after its founder Tanzanian Painter Edward Said Tinga Tinga. There are still paintings that come from the region today but they are not as large and are painted on different painting surfaces. I acquired this original painting years ago and have enjoyed it very much. It is time for someone else to own this magnificent piece of African Art.
