Antique 1830s Tureen / Staffordshire Blue Flower Transferware / Antique English Ironstone Tureen I have had and sold many English Staffordshire tureens but I think that this one is my favorite with its little blue flowers that have a touch of burgundy, stems and mint green leaves. The finial on top of the lid and the two handles have the same minty green color highlighting the design. It does have some of the classic brown spots typical to antique ironstone and some little nicks around the lip where the lid fits into the pot, there are no cracks. It is stamped only "John Ridgway & JR" into the base which makes me believe that this very old piece dates to the 1830s. I think this small brown and creamy ivory white transferware tureen is absolutely fabulous! Ideal for your Holiday dinners. ++ fabulous wedding gift ++ winter soups ++ The tureen measures~~ about 7.5" handle to handle x 5.5" at its widest not including the handles x 4.25" tall not including the lid The lid measures~~ about 4" x 2.5" ~♥~.............................~♥~ I ship worldwide contact me for shipping rates, send me your country city and postal code. Welcome! It seems like Fall is marching right along-hard to believe it is already November! We have been busy working on some projects and so I haven't had time to take many new pictures so I am sharing some old ones of my transferware dishes. Some of these dishes are very old and others are new. I seem to be drawn to all transferware dishes so it is hard to pick a favorite-what about you,do you have a favorite? This last one makes me realize just how soon it is until I will be decorating for Christmas once again! Today is the start of the blowout fall bulb sale at Veseys warehouse on the Brackley Point Rd for anyone still wanting to get some tulips etc. It just so happens I have room for a few more! It seems where my daffodils have multiplied over the years many of my tulips have not been perennial so I need to replace some every fall for a beautiful spring show. Thank you for all your lovely comments and emails on my last post and once again welcome to my new followers. I have been asked if I was going to have my Christmas blog this year and I have decided not to have one this year due to the time required but I will be looking forward to posting Christmas on this blog soon! Today I am joining French Country Cottage for Feathered Nest Friday The Charm of Home for Home Sweet Home and My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday. Hope you have a wonderful day! Carolyn

Rusty Hinge is a blog about vintage decorating, gardening, and collecting with a twist of farmhouse and country living.
Sometimes I feel so lucky when I find a big stash of pretty dishes for a great price. But it really is a numbers game. The more you make the rounds, the more likely you are to get the deals. I even vary the time of day or week that I visit a place. You never know what will turn up. This time it was this beautiful blue Myott English china. I love all the curves and flourishes. A number of dings are to be expected with this many pieces, but the far majority of this set was in fine condition. There were two tureens, and a large platter and vegetable bowl as well. I adore all the extra detail that old English china often has. Even a sauce pitcher and tray! Blue and white is so crisp and cool looking for the warm months ahead! I found this old ironstone bowl in the same market on the same day. Something tells me that they may have been from the same collector. The bowl has a lovely pale blue design on the angular rim. Sometimes my shots are fuzzy, but this time it's the maker's mark that is out of focus! Pretty anyway. Time for a little summer farmhouse vibe. . . . I hope your week is off to a wonderful start! I'll be off inventing tablescapes in blue! Cheerio! Jacqueline Join me at PeekingThrough the Sunflowers~Share Your Style The Charm of Home~Home Sweet Home
English Mason's brown and multicolor transferware ironstone platter with scalloped edge probably from the 1940's. Love the yellow and green accents on the piece...and notice the butterfly which always ups the appeal for me! Size: 14.5" diameter Condition: Crazing to glaze, no chips or cracks, glaze inconsistencies inherent to the piece mostly on the back but one small black spot at the edge on the front.

The day started with a coyote sighting at the airport. Picking up the kiddos in the early morning it crossed our path on Sunport Blvd. and paused in the cactus landscaped median looking over its shoulder at us as we passed. Not a common sight even near the river, let alone near roaring jet engines. It was a thrilling way to begin a day that moved on to a picnic, chasing bunnies and roadrunners, identifying bird calls, and making fairy houses from twigs and stones. Not exactly my ordinary day. But the first real day of spring happens only once a year! I'm not much of a widlife photographer. And I tend to keep my camera pocketed on safaris anyway. So the afternoon sun casting a soft light on my dining room table will have to do. . . . Are you saving any daylight for yourself this week? It's not too late. . . . Vaquero transferware small dinner plate or salad plate, 9" with an ochre lustre border (think butternut squash color) and center green image of what is probably a Spanish nobleman and two horses. Potted by Elsmore and Forster ca. 1850s or so. Love that pattern! A Vaquero is actually a cattle herder, and this scene could be inspired from Spain or the Southwest US. I have to say that potters often took some poetic license with their images on transferware -- not exactly what we think a cowboy would look like! This is an English potter, however, although I think of Elsmore and Forster more for plain white ironstone. Not signed, but pattern IDd with transferware group. I see no issues or problems with this plate -- some crazing, but no flakes, chips, repairs. Very few examples on a google search, and the center medallion color seems to vary. I have to think this is a very hard to find pattern -- but I also think it's amazingly gorgeous! I happen to have purchased a small sauce tureen on base from a good friend on a recent trip to PA with the same pattern, but the center image on that is actually purple and ochre! Then I found the plate in South Carolina two weeks later -- meant to be. For the horse lover, and to pop up a white ironstone display on your horse farm! See last photo. I am listing the tureen as well, and of course combine shipping, but you have to ask. See for yourself !
