Linwëlin Mantelet Pattern _______________________________________________ Beautiful Victorian/Medieval hybrid sleeved mantelet pattern is all in one piece and two layers. Will you solve a mystery in this mantelet or will you defeat a band of orcs? Having this pattern leaves the options completely up to you. This cool pattern is free with your purchase of Plump Superchunky yarn for this pattern by Mrs Moon! Just let us know in the Notes section of your order and we will email you the pattern. Hunky Dory is a two-colour brioche knit with a very sloppy fit and fabulous voluminous sleeves. It’s knitted from the top down in the round and comes in sizes S through to XXL. It’s knitted on 12mm needles so although it sounds as though it could be a heavy knit it’s actually incredibly light and squishy. The pattern includes videos on how to set up the brioche, the brioche increases and decreases (at the cuff). If you’ve never done two colour brioche before, it really isn’t difficult and you can certainly give it a first go with this jumper but it’s probably not for a total beginner! The jumper is a very loose fit. We’d really recommend checking out the different size measurements if you want a closer fitting garment or are considering sizing up. We’ve had lots of positive feedback about this sweater already. It uses two colours of Plump Superchunky. Shown here in Lemon Curd & Pavlova and Malt Loaf & Gooseberry Fool. Feel free to make your own combos, or check out our kits with our recommended combos here! You will need: Plump Superchunky: Main colour (shown in Lemon Curd): 4 (5, 5, 6, 6) Contrast colour (shown in Pavlova): 3 (4, 4, 5, 5) 12mm circular needles (60cm and longer as required) 10mm circular needles or dpns for neck and cuffs. For non-USA customers: The pattern should now be available again (1/9/2015). Let me know if you have any problems. Full Disclosure: You must be able to read charts for this pattern. It’s my first pattern. I knit this sweater in the x-small size. I did math to upsize this sweater. Also, I knit this in a heavy yarn because I live in a cold place. Tips: Sweater charts start on Wrong Side. This pattern is 17 pages. There are certain parts of the charts that are in color for ease of use. So print the pattern in color or review the pattern pdf on your computer prior to knitting. The Fireside Sweater is a shawl-collared cabled cardigan. I've got some really wonderful images for you today. They all come from some mid-1800's Peterson's magazines (again!). All of the No. images are actually the numbered parts of a pattern, but I thought the typography was so pretty and could be used on so many projects. Here's the pattern they came from. It's a pattern for a 'mantelet', which is a short cape. Are there any seamstresses out there who feel inspired to attempt this pattern? If so, I'd

After posting my last feature of Marilyn Hawkins, I received a few more emails from quilters with their own beautiful projects and I just KNEW you'd be itching to see more! Thank you to ALL for your beautiful work and thank you for letting me share you with the world. Hugs, Cindy :) I heard from Kelly Cline in Lawrence, KS with these BEAUTIFUL pieces. Her story: I am a linen lover by way of the long arm. I am really drawn to the society silk pieces and love the ones with words. I sent you one I started with...Kansas, and since then am just obsessed with these pieces. Here are a couple of recently finished pieces. The rose piece is a silk round about 17" in diameter. Love your work and I am a regular follower. Thanks for the inspiration! Kelly Cline **************************************************************** Geri Richardson is a fabulous linen lady who I had the pleasure of meeting at a past Linen Workshop in Rancho Cordova. I received this email from her about a much deserved award on her beautiful piece. This is a portion of her story~ The name of this is "Something Old is New Again". The center doily is an old piece I picked out of Cindy's stash basket in class. Background fabric is a pale blue Fossil Fern. Threads are YLI silk, Superior silk and Isacord poly. I got really lucky and found the lace edging at Beverly's then spent three days beading. The lace edge is beaded on, the diamonds have beads in the center of the cathedral windows and the inside oval is beaded twice. GREAT TIP HERE LADIES!!! Oh yes, MAJOR blunder not once but TWICE. I ran off the vinyl overlay I was working on to figure out my feather spine and got dry erase marker on the fabric. First time just a little, second time BIG TIME. Murphy's Oil Soap!!! It works!!! I entered this in two shows. The first in Tennessee at the Smoky Mountain Quilters where it won two ribbons...third place in the art quilt category and a special award for surface embellishment. Next it goes to a show in Indiana at the end of June. Geri Richardson *************************************************************** Quiltshopgal hosts a monthly FMQ challenge where readers are encouraged to learn new techniques from various instructors and make beautiful pillows in the process. During my feature, students were encouraged to use The Ultimate Stencil for their designs. I heard from Grit Kovacs in Germany with her gorgeous piece!!! Anna Surke from Hungary is one of my very talented Craftsy students. She is always posting gorgeous pieces. This is her pillow project also using The Ultimate Stencil! ************************************************************* Robin Gausebeck from Paducah, Kentucky sent me a photo of her project way back in March...I put it in my "follow up emails" folder and guess who forgot to follow up and post it! Here is her story: This is a picture of the quilt made from my grandmother's old linen table runner which I finally finished in time for my guild's upcoming quilt show. The original linen was brown with age and now it is back to being linen colored thanks to the RetroClean soap. I enrolled in Sue Nickel's feather workshop at the quilt museum this past summer specifically to learn techniques for quilting this piece. Using her strategy of designing feather motifs based on the letters of the alphabet, I was able to incorporate my grandmother's initials (BK) as the main quilting focal point. The table runner itself was stitched to Dupioni silk. I am pleased with how it turned out and I owe you a lot for the advice you provided. Robin Gausebeck
***This is a listing for a PDF PATTERN only, this is NOT a physical item, you will not get the top*** **I do not offer cancellations or refunds on patterns even if you make the mistake of thinking you are buying an actual top** Hawa, a cute and fancy little Spring or Summer cardigan. It is customizable in many ways, you may add longer sleeves, no sleeves, a longer crop, 1 tier or 2 tiers of ruffles (2 tiers are extremely adorable and double as fancy!), more rows of ruffles, the possibilities are endless! You could even make a floor length gown! (I may have to in future!) I've made 3 of these using different weight yarns, I tried one with aran weight, surprisingly it turned out lovely, sport weight is the prettiest and soooo dainty, but dk is perfect and so wearable. The pattern contains high quality photos and a couple charts to help you visually. My patterns are size inclusive, they are to fit Women of all shapes and sizes because 1 size does not fit most! My patterns are written in a way where the crocheter must measure themselves, this is to ensue the most perfect fitting top for YOUR body. The pattern is written to fit size 12A/34A, but everything you need to know for every size is in there and has been tested by many women before publishing. The skill level is easy, any beginner will be able to try it. When I'm learning a new stitch I find Youtube is the best source. It is written in US terms. You will need a 6.5mm hook & yarn weight of dk or your choice (as it works with anything aran weight and under). I recommend at least 200 grams of yarn, larger testers used 250 to 300 grams. Foundation Double crochet is used in this pattern. There is no shipping fee, as it is a downloadable item, you will be able to dowload the pdf after your purchase is made. There are many tutorials out there on how to create a narrow hem. The problem is they mostly demonstrate on a rectangular piece of fabric, which makes the process deceivingly easy. With a few exceptions, that usually is not how I use a narrow hem. If I need to hem something straight, a wide hem of 1″ or […]

Ommegang is my take on the assymetric cabled tunic that’s been floating around Pinterest. I used graduated cables for a mix of delicate curves and textures on one side, keeping to soft twists and rounded edges. They are arranged by size and simplicity, trailing off to one side of the body. This complex panel contrasts nicely with the smooth stockinette of the other side of the tunic, which keeps the sweater from being too busy and gives you a little break while knitting around. I knit mine with a shortish turtleneck that can be worn standing up or folded down. The transition from cables to turtleneck is accented by a little welt around the neckline, which is a fun technique to knit and makes a great detail under the ribbing. The pattern is written with instructions for a turtleneck like mine, a longer turtleneck, or a cowl. You can see the options in action in the test knits. The sweater is knit seamlessly from the bottom up, so modifications for width and length are easily made. Shaping is worked along either side of the body and can be altered as desired. With this in mind, it works as a hip-length sweater, a tunic or even a dress - as one of my testers chose to go for! (She’s not exactly done yet…) I chose Bare Naked Wool’s Stone Soup DK, which is a beautifully soft mix of 11 different fibers from the amazing Anne Hanson. It’s like nothing I’ve knit with before - lofty and sturdy at the same time, distinct with a beautifully rustic hand. And really, they had me at this color - Marble, the palest gray possible. Let’s be clear on this: I do not knit. Lots of my friends knit. I like knit wear. I like knit people. For me, mere knowledge of someone’s knitting ability will spark my interest in them as a friend. I like people who knit almost as much as I like people with cats. And that...Read More

This is the Shop Hop quilt for the Needle and I. Georgia wanted me to do something easy on it. I did a light custom job on it. No stitching in the ditch....in each block...I did a feather ring...and stayed pretty simple on all the sashing. I really liked how it turned out. It's a 70 x70 inch quilt and took about 4 hours to do up. I used cream thread through out, except for the purple borders....then I used a light purple thread. And I must have a major smudge on my camera lens! This is Angela's. She made it for a baby boy and I used a new pattern called "Jilly" for it. It turned out cute. And this is a sweet baby quilt that Judy made up. I used the pattern "popcorn" on it. ~Jenny~

It is worked from the bottom up in the round to the underarms. Work is then divided, and front and back are worked back and forth up to the shoulders. Sleeve stitches are then picked up, and sleeves worked in the round from the top down. Finally, stitches for the folded neckband are picked up and the neckband finished in rib. As an alternative to working the yoke back and forth, the entire sweater can be worked in the round and then steeked (cut). You will find alternative instructions in the pattern for how to work the sweater in the round with additional steek stitches. There are, however, no actual instructions on how to reinforce the steek, cut or finish the steek edges afterwards, and you are advised to use your own preferred methods for this. If you are new to steeking, this is not a good first-time pattern for learning, and we recommend that you work the yoke back and forth instead if this is the case.
